How many straws of semen have been sold on HW and his clones? Does anyone know or what to take a guess?

I remember reading a newspaper article a few years ago where Phil and Matt were interviewed and I think I remember correctly that Heat Wave had sold $750,000 of semen the previous year.

Counting him + his clones over their life, rest assured it is a very, very big number.

I bet not as many as calves that have been "sired by him".  Even though of conception rates not being 100%.

I will take that bet

$750,000/30=25,000units of semen    25,000/8years=3,125 units a year..Maybe my price figuring is wrong but his units seems low.

That would be approx. 25000 units per year.

Don't go to the bank on my memory of the article, but I think I remember that.

I believe it was $750,000 in the last year before the article, not lifetime.  So the bull sold 25,000 units in ONE YEAR.  So multiply that times 8, and he may have sold 200,000 units of semen theoretically.  I don't have a horse in the race, but if he averaged around $750,000 a year times that many years, thats around the number of units he sold.  Of course, who knows or can account for the clones without more information.
