cotullaguy says: Hi guys…My question is one I hear on here often.  Is the original Heatwave Dead or Alive?

Matt Lautner says: Heatwave is still alive.

Phil Lautner says: Cotullaguy: Heatwave has not collected since last fall, but hopefully he will be able to produce agian soon.

did you ever see the picture of the original? as a mature bull?

so they can still sell semen from the original, or better yet, still make 'clones'-- so the genetic material stays the same..

Can you clone a clone?  you would think that after awhile, ole HW's ear will be completely gone???  and they'll have HW 57, a clone of a clone, or a clone...  boy won't that be something.. <deadhorse>

Im pretty sure he died a couple months after that chat. Either way, he ans gis clones produce the bestin the business so who cares, everyone knows people call the clone calves originals. Good ones are good ones no matter what.

I have to agree with wyatt. HW has done his job. Did better then anyone could have imagined. but the time has come to see what else is out there and there are plenty of new and extremely good bulls out there. Take texas for example we have continually started using smokes and colored cattle, giving a new look.

Don't get me wrong HW is and will be the man. Did some great things and has his place in alot of tanks around the country.

I have to agree we need to find a bull that isn't heatwave but look at the those steers that won Texas majors this year. Although they are colored calves they go back to heatwave so we can't say that Texas is an innovator when all that we have done is further use heatwave
