We always figure them the same & more times than not the first calf comes B4 I'm ready every year.Best not to let that happen to you. Time in bed is way over rated. Most PPL die in bed!!!

Yeah LOL. I have already spent several nights in the barn already so I guess just watch her careful?

cold spells, moon signs, and weather changes bring calves into this world...  Heifers seem to go early,, as well as heifer calves seem to come earlier than bull calves who tend to go over.

Here you there!  I've been making trips to my farm(2 miles from my house) twice a night for the past 3 days waiting on a heifer.  It drives my wife nuts when the alarm goes off and I jump out of bed.  Last night I accidentally woke up my 18 month old daughter.....needless to say I high-tailed it out of the house and spent a little longer in the barn.  I was hoping by the time I got back the wife and kid would be asleep.  The kid was......the wife ambushed me when I walked in the door!

breed your heifers to a truly low BW bull and you don't need to worry so much. I used to get up twice a night and watch all day. Now I natural breed to a red angus bull and check before I go to bed and when I get up and that's the only special times I have. Now I don't get excited until I see a little red calf running around in the pen!!  My work in town gives me enough to worry about now.
