Gave a cow lute on accident she is possibly bred is there any thing I can do or is she going to abort??

Hey Kyle,

I'm thinking she will probably abort.  Was she far enough along to ultrasound in the near future?  You can also watch her close now for heat and A.I. her again.  Sorry about your bad luck.

Its not 100% surety she will abort. I've heard of cases they don't but I'm sure that's insanely rare. I would consult a vet and pray hard

I've found lute is useless for aborting.  Used it to deliberately abort 3 head that were about 45 days, not a one aborted.  Also had a cow a couple years ago that was supposed to be open, she was on sync program - which included a shot of lute, AI tech stuck his arm in and ooops there was a calf in there!!  She calved about 10 tens later, 20 days after the shot of lute.

if she is less than 10 days bred, there is a possibility she will not abort.  if a cow is over 32-35 days bred and one wants them to abort, it helps to combine Lutalyse with Dexamethasone, usually about 10cc's or 1cc/cwt.  good lock, i hope it turns out ok.

You can relax a little.  We were implanting last wk & imagine how floored we were when the embryologist said 'this cow is 8 1/2 months pregnant'!  She'd had the CIDR, lut & whole set up to be a recipient.  Our neighbor had set her up.  Thought she'd had a calf because she had sprung, bagged up etc. They hunted the field, watched her closely for a month.  Figured she had had the calf & they couldn't find it.  We could've done the same thing.  They know what they're doing.  So, it isn't certain that you'll lose your pregnancy.
Depends on how far along the pregnancy is.
Another story of interest.  We had a cow we had seen in standing heat more than once.  So come breeding season we gave her some lut to breed her.  Were pretty upset when we found we aborted her.  So now, the rule at this place is no lut unless we test for pregnancy first.

Several years back we had a heifer we tried to set up a couple of different times, finally discovered she had been bred before we bought her.  Long story short she ended up calving in September rather than March and everyone was fine.
