What is everybodys opinion on a good herford bull that could make a few females to make a club calf mama. I was thinking some of the other clubby type herfs like Cyrus and purple Milsap. Any opinions would be great thanks (cow)

theres a newer bull called The Umpire that looks pretty clubby to me.

Is he the bull that Stream's had out at NWSS?  He was pretty cool, looked like he could make some heifers.

I like Cyrus if you're going for a bull to make clubby mommas. That High Cotton cow has never missed. I havent seen alot of Milsaps. I've seen a couple of Hard Drives that are making real good cows, especially when mated to Reload. I like Cyrus a little more than Sturgis, genetic wise. Phenotypically they were both pretty darn good.

Maternally speaking, I would not use Hard Drive. However he did sire some nice steers at the Junior Nationals. The Umpire bull looks to have taken a good photo, but I don't think he is too impressive. Also its been pointed out on another forum that he APPEARS to have an overbite in more than one of his photos. Cyrus has created alot of stir and I know of some club calf producers that are using him on some maine x angus cows. I don't think you could go wrong with Sturgis, his dam was National Champion Hereford so its in his blood. Isn't his sire horned? I'm not sure so you may want to check into that.

Sturgis' sire Midas, is horned. I really dont think you could go wrong on either Cyrus or Sturgis. Personally I like Cyrus more because of the Moler background. Both Cyrus and Sturgis have national champ bloodlines so its your choice. Good Luck!!!
