If memory serves me correctly, you are a shorthorn man with knowledge of RA as well from Ks. My question - are you in Showboat and T Roy smiths little part of the world?

ITK is a Durham Red enthusiast and I think he loves Red Angus cattle. I can't speak for him though. ;D

Road Warrior...what is your take on marble bone carriers? When or is a test going to come out? I don't know that it is a secret but the Red Angus bull"Stormalong"is in the 4 listed carrier bulls pedigree. Stormalong looks to be in the pedigrees of most Red Angus cattle. I know of a woman that has Stormalongs pedigree traced clear back to Black Angus of the early 1900's where she thinks the marble bone deal came from. I talked to Lorna of ABS and she thought the lancer 442 was probably clean cause he has been used heavily and nothing is has been reported. Lancer 442 is my base for the Durham Red deal so I'm happy. But you  may be right the defectivecalves may be mis-diagnosed and who really knows. I was thinking offhand that Cherokee Canyon was sired by "canyon" who is in the listed carriers pedigree's. Canyon goes back to Stormalong way back. Stormalong was born in 1957. DL tuned me in to most of this.

there will be a test, how soon I don't know. Dr B is working on it is all I know for sure but I'm sure he is busy with all of the other defect testing htey are doing so only time will tell. How deep in the genetic pool this thing runs is anybodies guess at this point. I've stayed off of the "most popular bull of the year" and bred my own little funky pedigrees from cattle that I liked the looks of and worked in my little part of the world. Hopefully this may get me a little imunity from this defect but that is hopeful speculation right now. I may have the only clean herd around or I may have the "dirtiest bunch going" . RW

Showboat is my fiance's cousin.  M Bar, I had suspicions that was who you were.

My condolences to your family Diamonds. LOL!

LOL, I went to Denver with Showboat for the first time a couple years ago.  What an experience!!!!   Guess it wasn't too bad, I went back last year.  He and Becky are really good people and a hell of a lot of fun.  I used a couple of his South Devon bulls the last couple years on heifers with really good luck, besides that fact that AI'ing with Boat can be pretty entertaining as well.

"Boat" is at the very least live entertainment - I'm not real sure what Becky ever saw in him, I've told him numerous times that she is way to nice to be with him, LOL. Good luck with your "Boat" experience!  RW

Live entertainment is an understatement. Boat should come with a warning label. I know that many of us have had a "Boating accident" or two.

One year in Denver a couple of us discussed having shirts made that would say - I survived the boat ride. RW

LMAO!!  How funny!  My fiance' Mitch, Boat's cousin, has told some stories.  He's been running with Boat at Denver for a long time.  Overall, he's a heck of a  good guy!  We wouldn't trade him for the world.
