Fast Fat. Works Great!
Calf Manna is also a great top dress for coat etc.

We use either Final Cover (powder) or Final Cover II (liquid) from Show Feeds, Inc.  One fat supplement is probably just as good as another, these are just easier for us to get.  Cost isn't too bad at all on either.

I've fed Fast Fat before and don't remember having to use that much at all.

We feed about half of that. It is pretty good about putting on the weight. We have had good luck with it. 3.5 ave. daily gain plus.

How far away are you from both Cotton Country, or, a Dry-lot Dairy? My best ''quick-fix" for body condition was Whole Cottonseed. I think any of the Commodity Brokers near you could get you a load of it pretty cheap. Don't feed it to Bulls, though, because it can affect their fertility. Wintering Dry, Pregnant cows? 2 pounds Whole Cottonseed and 1 pound of ground Corn with free choice grass Hay will be the cheapest You've ever wintered a cow for.

You can fatten a steer in a hurry with a folgers coffee can full of whole cottonseed added to feed twice a day.  Be careful - because it is hot on their stomachs.

good point Chambero! When you start adding high fat you run the risk of loosing hair. Just a warning! also, do any changes gradually or you run the risk of putting them off feed or worse.

Hey GB, you have my attention. Where can A guy find whole cottonseed, and do you just load it up in a hopper trl, or how does it travel best? What kind of equip. would it take to move it, and store it. We can get cottonseed hulls, bur I have never seen or heard of anyone feeding whole cottonseed. What would it cost, what is the most common unit measure please? Thanks, GB. Brent C.

Yep! The Gossypol pigment is why you can't feed it to Bulls--kills the swimmers. Also kills any monogastric creatures, such as pigs and poultry.
Works like magic for wintering cows (don't exceed 2lbs a day, hence the 3-pound coffee can) and growing/finishing steers.

Contact your nearest commodity broker. It's usually hauled in a Live-bottom box trailer. The Dairy farms up here in NW AR/SW MO/NE OK get 'em from either the Delta, or, from SW OK, depending on cost.
Oh, yeah, it just needs to be stored in a covered shed, ideally a commodity shed found at most Feedyards and Total-confinement Dairy Farms.
