I will get crucified for this....but some of the first black purebred black simmentals were god awfull cattle.

For our purebreds we check them throughly at a few months old.  If they have horns then we paste them which suprisinly works very well.  But the big thing is to use a polled bull. 

I have also heard about the you need the horn to get the butt deal but like someone else said that is not the case anymore.
