How soon after calving can you put CIDRs in. Assuming a normal calving and good body condition. I would like to jump my cows up a bit and I was tinking of putting CIDRs in at about 35-40 days open. (Provided the heat breaks a bit)

CIDR's in at 35 or 40 days puts you at about 45 or 50  days to A.I. date(assuming a 7 day CIDR protocol).    Both are within reason and routinely done.
