how to get ultrasound gel out of steer's hair

Our County Fair is this coming week. The steers all get an ultrasound after weigh-in for a live carcass class. What is the best way to get the gel out of the hair afterwards? Some people pour baby powder on it and let it soak most of the day. Others use cornstarch. It seems like we still wash each calf two and three times to get it out. Maybe we aren't letting it soak in long enough? But we have 3 steers and 3 heifers. We can't wait forever to wash them or we will miss the show. Any suggestions?

have you tried GOJO hand soap?

First have your fair officials request the ultrasound tech use a water based gel. It is more expensive, but is very easy to remove.
If that is not an option, use Dawn dish soap.  Absorb as much of the oil as possible by using corn starch and the blower. Then Put Dawn on directly and scrub. Rinse. Repeat.  You may even have to do it a third time, but most of the time, the first scrubbing gets 90%, then the second time gets the rest.

Put some baby powder or corn starch on it to soak up the gel/oil then wash it out later.
