You said you can tell if a calf might grow to be a show steer... this is a June Mr Control (AMAA-359597)x angus / Dr Hook.... he was late for us so we left him a bull... I didn't think he was growing as fast as I'd like . He had a rough summerand just was slow to grow after we weaned him... He has finally really started to take off after a worming and we cut him about 3 weeks ago... current weight about 550...so should I try to sell him or just feed him and butcher him this summer/fall

Well its kind of hard to really get a good look at him with the weather, I would def think you would be able to sell him as a county fair steer. He looks to be a pretty solid calve. Maybe a little on the tall side but he could be going through a growth spurt. I would def say with a good clip job you could make a little money off of him. If you have any questions pm me and I'll be glad to answer anything.

sure, took em over lunch time... I am reallly tired of the mud
Thanks, he is really something from the rear, with the Fear this and big ole angus in there I kinda think he is going to grow out OK... the angus grandam is probably about 1300... don't know if the Dr hook would downsize to much, his mom certainly isn't little, Bull (MR Control) probably 1500 in working clothes

Totten, thanks for the reply... I will try to get him to someone who can get him ready... angles can be funny... he isn't really very tall, certainly the shortest built calf I've raised
