From personal experience internships can be one of the most important keys to saying on path to your ideal future career. The people that I met and were able to network with during my internships (Calgary Stampede, ShowChampions, American Hereford Association, KJLA) we are invaluable.

I encourage you to post internships that you hear or that your company or farm may be offering so users of this board can quickly identify some of the opportunities that exist this summer.

How cool is that, i just found out yesterday i was selected to participate in an Internship for the FT. Worth Stock Show from January 29th to Feb 6th. From what i read i will be working for the Arena Director's Office. Its the last semester of my senior year and I am very excited to participate in this event. Here is some of the info they sent me...

"You will need to be at the in the Arena Director’s in front of Cattle Barn #2 at 5:00pm Sunday evening prior to the week you start your shift.  It is at this time that you will receive your gate and parking passes as well as your hotel room keys.  When you first get to the gate on Sunday afternoon, you will need to tell the attendant that you are working in the Arena Director’s Office.  You may have to pay the first time, but you will be reimbursed when you get to the Arena Director’s Office.  Carpooling among your group members is encouraged.  You will be on your own for your meals so make sure that you take some money with you.  You will have the opportunity to eat all week at the arena director’s office if you so desire.  Your shift will end on the following Sunday afternoon.  You will approximately be compensated for your services.

It is imperative that you understand that you will be gone an entire week to the stock show.  You will be working for the Fort Worth Stock Show and they will be grading your performance.  You are not allowed to work for or help other exhibitors (unless asked to do so by stock show officials) while you’re at the stock show.  Remember:  You are representing the Fort Worth Stock Show while you are an employee at the stock show."

How cool is that week of the steer show, paid, plus food, plus hotel. <cowboy>
