Anyone at the Iowa Beef Expo been through the Shorthorn bulls?  I know Mitchell's look really good, wondering about Gana-Nisley's, Leemon's out of Ace of Diamonds, and the Lot 1 bull, I think he is the only 2 year old in the sale.

Just a little shameless self-promotion.  What do you think?

He sure looks to be a very complete package. He should make someone a good herd bull (thumbsup)

Thank you.  He is surely not for everyone, but we are very excited about his measurables and genetic predictors.  His maternal side is one of our longer lived and most productive cow lines.  His maternal great grandmother, 14 years old, is due in two weeks to the Duty bull.  His grandmother, 11 years old, weaned a really stout Duty heifer this fall.  His mother is just 4, but her first two calves have been impressive.  Her first, Hahn 8 Dreams F2X by MJH Frazier C806, was Junior Champion at the IL State Fair and has some impressive measurements herself.

F2X  BW:92  WW:827  YW:1079  BF:0.22  REA(adj to 365):12.1  IMF(adj to 365):5.11  Pelvic Area: 289cm2

We think D26Y would be a quality option for a set of heifers to offer maternal value without sacrificing some growth.  The Iowa Royal has such a great tradition of offering and selling a wide range of genetics and type, it should be a very good sale tomorrow.  Lots of options.  If we didn't already have a Studer bull walking at home, they have a couple of really complete young sires.  Kolt's bulls will be fit to a tee, really interesting phenotype on the Lehman bull, not to mention some really good Jazz and Captain Obvious decendants, as well as Canadian influence.  There should be plenty of satisfied buyers.

Had to go back home, and my cows calving . Missed the Shorthorn sale. Would lke to know what Schrags Augusta Pride female went for. She would of been lot#39

I watched some on the internet today.  I got the first bull- then had to leave and came back just as they were selling Bernie's bred heifer.  The purebred bred heifer was a deal today with the way market rates have been going for bred heifers around here anyway.
I did get to watch the heifers.  #39 I have written down $3000.
Heifers all went very briskly at very good money.  Lowest heifer was $1250.
Even if you were a "deal hunter" today- you had to pony up more than $1000.  I have been there in the past when you could get a trailer load of "deals" under $1000.

I was bidding on the first bull, had to settle for lot 6.  Thought all in all were very good prices from a buyers standpoint.  No deals under $1000, but nothing outrageous either.

I couldn't tell from the parade or the sale, but could someone go into detail on the lot 13 bull. He only brought 1600. What might have been the concerns with him?

how about mitch's AoD bull?

Phineas brought 7500.00 and went to Phil Raisbeck and Keith Hueneke.  Phil Raisbeck is the one who breed Ace of Diamonds.
I was also told that Cattle Visions has already picked him up.
We were happy with the price and happy with who bought him.

glad to see sons of the Uluru Ulyssses bull from Ruffian that I sold to O'brecht's brought good $ Lots 3,5 & 7

We also sold a DF Waco son.  Born 1-3-11    weight on 2-13-12 was 1508      had a WDA of 3.72    Actual REA was 18.9
Scrotal  was 41.5 biggest of any Shorthorn bull at the Iowa Royal  All this in a 6.5 frame.
I know there is another discussion about frame score. I think this say some thing about performace

I think I remember the Swagger was lot 70 and it brought $525 and the Grey Goose brought $125.  I was listening via internet, but didn't take notes...
