We have one Cerveza cow we bought. Really like her and her overall substance as a cow! Looking to breed some Angus/Maine cows to some Whiskey influenced bulls to create some clubby mothers. We have researched the different IW sons and have a few in mind but want to hear what others have experienced. The ones we are considering are Cerveza, Paddy O'Malley, Patton and The Beast. Our cows do not have any structural issues and are all clean of defects. Looking to create a few good clubby mamas!

the only pha clean bull on your list is Patton.  We have used him and like the results well enough.  they can be a little round and have plenty of bw.  in shameless , self promotion mode, i would point you toward Afterhours.  He is our Irish Whiskey x Dr Who/Imprint and is clean of all defects.  moderate calving, extremely sound and we are calving his first set of daughters now with great success.  it appears the dr who in the background is really doing wonders on teat and udder quality and they have plenty of milk.  Afterhours is owned by Sugar Creek Farms, Pruess Cattle and Brandon Bird.

He looks like a great heifer making bull but how is he doing in making marketable steers?

Although not the goal of making terminal cattle.  the steer mates are attractive and have really good grow.  we have sold several for county steers over the past couple of years. We have used him on a few THC cows and he has proven to soften up structure keep good looks and hair. His bulls have sold very well.  Sexed semen is available.

Thank you. We only own 9 cows so this is NOT our main income but they have to pay for themselves. So sorry  for wondering if he could produce great steers. I like his genetics.

We used three Irish Whiskey influenced bbulls last year.  Were hoping for heifers and got a ton of bull calves......  we got four rumor mill bull calves.    Like them all enough to use him again.  All four have "the look"  one i have shared a couple pics of him as a day old calf and was told he is very good......  he seems to be reasonably heifer safe.  The calf out of the heifer was 72.  2 out of cows were 80-85.    The other one is out of a cow that always has big ones and was unassisted so he was small enough.....  Only got one afterhours bull calf.  Some days I really like him....  some he is ok.  Very thick and correct just not as eye popping eye appeal.  Trying to decide which cows to use the two left in the tank on.....  we used Direct whiskey on our heifers.  Will definitely use him on heifers again .    One out of a second calver was 83....she is a BIG cow.  All others 75 or smaller with three in the 65 range.  Only regret four bulls two heifers.

Saw the Beast at Hawkeye a couple weeks ago. In our opinions he was the most impressive bull there. So massive, sound and big footed yet should still create great females that will milk.

We understand the risks associated with using carrier IW sons, but are looking to raise some heifers/cows that when bred to TH Bulls can really produce steers with the "it" look. We feel that we can manage our PHA calves if they are born carriers out of the IW sons that are carriers. We will blood test all of them we decide to keep. Want to use the IW son that also could sire quality  steers also. Our show momma's only number around 50 head so it is a very manageable number for us. Any past experiences with the IW sons and the kind of calves they produce would be great. The cows are Sim/Angus crossed that we will be AI'ing. They are all carrier free.

I have seen some good Paddy O'Malley Steers and the mommas have been have been producing good when mated to THC bulls.

The other owners (Blind Badger, Shea Geffert, Bob May) and myself are truly appreciative of the emphatically positive feedback and consistently pleasing calf reports Rumor Mill has received throughout the course of his breeding career. Although we did not promote him overly heavily, we feel his ability to sire possible replacement heifers, potential herdsires and AI sires (Rumor Has It), and marketable show steers, has been accepted well.

BroncoFan, that was considerate of you to write what you did regarding Rumor Mill. Once he is collected in the near future, his semen will be available at 30 dollars/unit.
