Last night online semen sale $140.00 a straw for an unproven bull???  All i can say is Matt is a marketing genius.

or it's just a scam to make people think the bull is worth something....Matt could've bought it himself and resold it for all we know

I dont see how he is a marketing genious. He put 5 units of semen on a sale, not much marketing there, and as stated earlier he could have bought it himself. If it is real money that got paid for it I would call it supply and demand. Its the first 5 ever offered and it hasnt even been collected yet. So please explain to me how he is a marketing genious on this calf? I personally wouldnt buy half the bulls he promotes because i feel a lot of them should have been steered, but thats my opinion and it doesnt mean much to most. I just dont drink the lautner cool-aid.

Maybe genius wasn't the right word.  How about hype master. The point i was trying to make was an unproven uncollected bull fetches 140.00 when there are numerous bulls of similar genetic base and phenotype out there for 20.00 all you want to buy. The buzz created by a display at Denver and some blog pics and post without a single dose collected yet alone a live calf to promote. How many bulls through the years have followed this pattern then in 2-3 years aren't even around anymore. It's just the "latest and greatest" trap people will fall for. I'm not a Lautner kool aide drinker or fan of even...plenty of bulls out there to use that have proven themselves.  That' all i meant.

Saw the bull at stud right after Denver, he was nice, nothing amazing though, none of the new bulls were. Best bulls there were easily I Believe and Unstoppable. Maternal perfection was nice too. MAB clones looked the part. Lots of little crippled hair balls that won't grow there too.

Didnt mean any offense by my post earlier. It just amazes me how many people buy into these crippled up bulls that he is selling. But people see his name on a bull and it is the best thing in the world (The kool-aid drinkers) saw the same thing happen when Dakota Gold first sold and there was no promotion behind that bull. Ok i will get off my soapbox now sorry rant over  <beer>

Do you know of any Dakota Gold calves out there yet? He is one of the few I was really intrigued by, especially being clean both ways.

I guess, I am confused when you say the MAB clones "looked the part"? The pictures that were posted online and what I saw of course wasn't there in person looked like they had terrible shoudler structure and lots of flesh in the neck. It also looked like they pinched behind their shoulders. I guess how is that "looking the part?"
The pictures of MAB at stud he looks pretty small to me taken at stud posted on this site.

Stout made, but yes they were rugged. BUT, compared to ALL the other new little fluff balls at stud they were vastly better animals. You would just have to compare them to the other new bulls without their display fluff and they were much better animals in my opinion.

Great report  (clapping)

Honestly their shoulders were not that bad. He wasn't the smoothest in the barn but honestly with the mass they had and the foot and bone he looked uniform. Overall they looked better then their competition.

Genius was the right word as far as I am concerned.  Marketing is all about building hype!

Sure he misses on some of his prospects, but doesn't everyone?

What about the bulls that Lautner's are RIGHT about?

I-80
Monopoly
Heatwave
Unstoppable
Uno Mas
Jesse James

There are a couple of others that are just around the corner from that list as well.  (I-67, Monopoly Money)

I don't necessarily endorse every single bull in their lineup either, but I certainly would not minimize his ability to market!

I think its interesting that Italian stallion's full sib Lucky has yet to even be mentioned. I liked him besides the fact he has borderline too much white for me, coincidentally that's the reason I didn't use MAB.... My bad. Lucky semen should be available pending collection and at least when you buy it from a stud like Genex, or Select you know it is CSS quality and not junk like some have been known to sell.
