Why would you expect any type of predictability out of these mongrelized bulls, ejoe?

A 'mongrelized' purebred bull? Based on your normal claims that is an oxymoron

Maine assoc might consider him purebred but he's not. The genetics of a first generation 7/8ths bull aren't exactly stabalized.  You realize I80's dam is a 3/4, right? Let me dumb it down for you. His dam's makeup is 25% something other than Maine.  Calling a 7/8s bull a purebred is the true oxymoron.  Find you a bull that is a second or third generation 31/32s and you might get some consistency.

You guys are crazy x bar knows everything. Why are we on a Jesse James topic? Breed her to that infamous shorthorn bull, he only throws champions even on American cows. He raises commercial steers that bring in the checks, and show calves that hang the banner. Purebred ancestry traced back to the aurochs so you bet he's consistent. The can't miss type

I mean hey jack, friends don't let friends use crossbred bulls, and we are all friends here

Has anyone ever had any problems breeding Jesse James to a heifer? Also does anyone  have any pics of his calves?
Thanks  :)

Why are some of you people even commenting when you havent had any experience breeding to Jesse James? All he wanted to know was if anyone had any problems breeding to him or if anyone had pics of his calves.

I've made several comments and posted pictures and I feel like they've gone un-noticed.  I was trying to be constructive and state the pluses.  Not sure why I bothered.  You just get a bunch of haters or people trying to tell you why you should breed to the next hottest bull from Denver.  I bred to a high percentage Chi bull that's a know calving ease bull and I'm going to breed to him again this year.

Show Stopper,

All I needed to do what look up that reg number given to identify the culprit of the inconsistencies.  Have you been missing ejoes post? Did you miss the 1 for 5 comment?  What a coincidence- the same problems I pointed out just from looking at his pedigree just so happened to be the problems being reported by those who've used him.  Guess I'm just a lucky guesser.

Keep up the good fight, Cattle Cards. It's easy to recognize your cattle sense in this sea of suburbia club calf kids.

Cattle Cards, don't let some of these guys bother you, you breed for show cattle, they breed commercial cattle. I have seen your pictures and are some very nice calves, honestly I have not thought of using JJ until I read this post and seen some pictures of his calves. Has made me think about using JJ on some of my heifers as I am impressed with the pictures of his calves. Thinking about buying a cane of him and using him on some heifers. Cattle Cards keep doing what you are doing, your calves are looking good.

Thank you to Big M and Xbar.  Yes, I'm trying to raise Reg. Chianina show heifers.  After I get a few of these Jesse James heifers, I breeding to Mr. Who Da Man 322Y, National Champion Chianina Bull.  He is by Who Da Man and out of a Destiny's Ace cow.  Proven Chianina genetics.  I'm not breeding to a son of a son of a son of a club calf bull who's, dam is untraceable...I'm not trying to complete in the club calf market because even if I had one of the best calves around, someone would by it for 2k, sell it for 5K and that person would sell it for 20K and somehow it'll win and the credit will all go to one a a couple people in the steer business, not me.  I have no delusions of selling high dollar steers.  But I know I can breed good producing, good looking females that should be able to compete.  I did it with Simmental heifers when I was in high school.  I am determined to do it again here.  Thanks to everyone who has been supportive of me.

QF, would mind starting another thread on this topic?  In my opinion its a bold statement to make and I would like to hear what your experiences have been with I80 daughters as momma cows or why you think they will not have good maternal instincts.

Thanks in advance

I80's won't make cows...they will make show heifers. He in no way should be called maternal.

Had 4 Jesse calves this year out of heifers, didnt have to help a one and all under 75 pounds.  And incredibly hairy for a free bull. One standout heifer out of a Bojo X Draft Pick heifer that is gonna do something big for somebody.
