I'm pretty sure he is, but I'll let him give up his handle himself, if he wants. I can see the boards getting a little less fun if you have to be your self! It's like that song, I'm so much cooler online

What does everyone think of that set of breds? I thought it looked like a better bred set than some other years. More maternal, less clubby, and thank goodness, no more heifers bred to Heatseeker or Manchild. I also think that heifers bred to sexed heifer semen is a great idea, as it should help greatly in the calving. Anyone besides these guys ever had many SOS calves? How were they? Anyone on the Planet seen this set  in person?

Thanks.  Meet Brad several years ago when we were promoting Ice Chest at the Ohio Beef Expo.  Nice Guy.

By the Way, it's spelled Tony even though Farwest always spells it Toni!

I actually got along well calving heifers to HS, but kinda cringed a little when quite a few of last year's heifers were carrying Manchild services. How did/does that go Brad? Brent

It definitely helps me offset some of the cost to run steerplanet.  We are getting ready to upgrade to a bigger data plan and more storage = more $$$.

If anyone is interested, shoot me a pm.  I haven't set any pricing, but I guarantee it will be very, very cost effective and I will make sure it produces results.

Hey Everyone,

I've been a member here for a while now and am proud of it!  My profile is jbh (jbradleyhook) and I enjoy this board because everyone seems to be half-way civil to each other, which is nice for a change and hopefully can stay that way.

I approached Jason about the banner above.  I'm weighing my web advertising against print to see how things shake out, and definitely wanted to support this forum if possible.

Thanks for the comments on the breds.  I'm always open to both positive and negative feedback.  As far as the heifers being bred to Heat Seeker and Manchild in the past, you need to realize that this sale is not or has never been billed as a calving ease mated sale, in fact, that's why many people purchased these breds, to throw the dice for a great one the first time.  Whether it makes since or not, it worked many, many times.......and of course, sometimes it didn't!

Next year will be our 10th Anniversary sale and YES, the trend has changed a bit.  The Sim-Angus cattle are smokin' hot right now....mainly because they're clean of defects and they consistently make great mothers.  The clubby bred females work when they work and dont' when they don't!  I try and keep an exceptionally strong momma behind these females, and would prefer only one generation of clubby in them.

The SOS sexed semen was used for two reasons....yes, hopefully additional calving ease, but also you know your going to have a coupon to redeem back into your program, and not just go to the sale barn if he's not a freak.  The semen was pretty expensive to produce, but we felt in the highly competitive world of marketing, it would set us apart.  SOS sold an unusual amount of semen for a halfblood simme bull this year, and the only reason he did was people seeing his progeny.(the picture sure didn't do it)

Brent, I haven't seen the Star Power bull since I bought him, but they say he looks great.  I'm gonna get him home after the sale and start the wheels in motion.  I think he's pretty good and different!

Gotta go pick my daughter up at a junior high dance......Later, Brad.

No Problem.  Farwest is just likes to mix it up with me for fun.  By the way Freddy is Jamie, Farwest is Ron.

Mr Hook, I see you have been on here a few times, that is good,  you are one of the few what I call big dogs that still have a good reputation, the guys have talked to you at some
shows and like the way you do business, keep it up, it gives these  young guys a good role model to look up too, I only wish you had more time sometimes to reply to emails and
phone calls but it is understood that you are extremely busy.  I wish you would put on a clinic for some of them on promotion and how to handle your self in the financial and business world.

I'm not sure if Brad knows how many members here were rooting for him to win the Today show's contest.
I have a confession though. Gidget & I came up w/ the idea that if you won they'd give you a slap on the butt as done in many shows. I went as far as calling the show but just don't think they got it.  (lol)

As I've said before. I think you'd be surprised at how many notable breeders & people involved w/ cattle are lurkers.

I'd love for Brad to start a thread or give some tips on how to video tape cattle. I know between he & Jeff at www.cattle.com they have done some excellent works.
