Hey Everyone,
I've been a member here for a while now and am proud of it! My profile is jbh (jbradleyhook) and I enjoy this board because everyone seems to be half-way civil to each other, which is nice for a change and hopefully can stay that way.
I approached Jason about the banner above. I'm weighing my web advertising against print to see how things shake out, and definitely wanted to support this forum if possible.
Thanks for the comments on the breds. I'm always open to both positive and negative feedback. As far as the heifers being bred to Heat Seeker and Manchild in the past, you need to realize that this sale is not or has never been billed as a calving ease mated sale, in fact, that's why many people purchased these breds, to throw the dice for a great one the first time. Whether it makes since or not, it worked many, many times.......and of course, sometimes it didn't!
Next year will be our 10th Anniversary sale and YES, the trend has changed a bit. The Sim-Angus cattle are smokin' hot right now....mainly because they're clean of defects and they consistently make great mothers. The clubby bred females work when they work and dont' when they don't! I try and keep an exceptionally strong momma behind these females, and would prefer only one generation of clubby in them.
The SOS sexed semen was used for two reasons....yes, hopefully additional calving ease, but also you know your going to have a coupon to redeem back into your program, and not just go to the sale barn if he's not a freak. The semen was pretty expensive to produce, but we felt in the highly competitive world of marketing, it would set us apart. SOS sold an unusual amount of semen for a halfblood simme bull this year, and the only reason he did was people seeing his progeny.(the picture sure didn't do it)
Brent, I haven't seen the Star Power bull since I bought him, but they say he looks great. I'm gonna get him home after the sale and start the wheels in motion. I think he's pretty good and different!
Gotta go pick my daughter up at a junior high dance......Later, Brad.
