Kubota vs John Deere

Everyone I know with a Kubota , likes them. You may not have the prestige of owning a Deere , but you're not paying for that green either.

I would maybe ck out the hydraulic oil flow if you are thinking about the backhoe to compare volume flow. It may take some good oil flow to run a hoe. Other than that I would go with the best deal that you can make. I think that either one would be good. The JD may have better resale value.

I'd give the orange ones a try for that size of machine.  Everything I've heard has been good about them, which I can't say about the smaller deere's.  Make sure and study the specification sheets from each machine to see the differences of power, flow of different fluids, weight, (like CAB said).

I bleed green so don't tell anyone about my recomendation. ;D

I bought an economy JD 3038 two years ago and love it.  It is a 38 HP model with loader and front assist.  Does everything I want it to do.  New cost about $17500 as I recall.

This unit does not have rear hydraulics, so would not work well with a backhoe.

We did what Nate did, looked at both very closely. We were leaning toward Orange, but when we looked at resale value the Deere won hands down. Also, the Deere dealership made a better offer, 0% interest on financing. That sold us right there.

Another thing to think about is where is the dealer? We wanted someone close just in case we needed parts or repair. We have both a Kubota and Deere dealer within 15 miles of us.

Ask about the warranty on the orange one.  Lots of fine print, if you do this or that warranty is void (its in the back of the owners manual).  One major thing on the kubota is the lack of refinement.  ex: the warning lights are welded solid to the ROP's or cab frame, if these get broken by law the a dealer can not take that unit on trade with out fixing that which means replacing the whole cab/rops frame so in most cases a dealer won't take it in trade.  I would look at Deere there is some 0% finance options out there that are very attractive.

I traded my smaller JD utility tractor with loader for a bigger New Holland (75HP) - why (you ask?) - the JD service was absolutely positively awful - terrible - the worst - I will never ever buy anything green again ever because of the terrible service - I have a t-shirt "Friends don't let friends drive green" LOL

Because of the bad JD service I started taking my farm machinery to a NH dealer for service - when the front wheel bearings blew out of the smaller JD,  Williams Farm Machinery in Charlotte took fabulous care of me - I love my NH tractor but I bought it because of the outstanding service - something to consider

That's funny you say that DL, our JD dealer has the BEST service! They even drive in every now and then to see if everything is OK with our tractor, remind us of when it is due for maintenance and such. We had a very light leak of hydraulic fluid (one of the couplings was not tight enough), they repaired it and gave us a five gallon container of hydraulic fluid for free! Great service, in my opinion!
I guess that is another thing to think about, ask around for people's experience on the different service dealerships.

That could be the deal breaker, don't have a local kubota dealer, about 60 miles away.  However, I am looking at used model and I don't mind tinkering with things.

we have both a kubota and a JD, when i get my preference of which one to use in the field, i hop in the Kubota. Both are bigger tractors but just wanted to throw in my 2 cents worth

My dad bought a tc55da (NH) about 5 years ago. With two buckets and a woods  mower I believe ha payed $23,500.  Only knock on it is that it is almost to light weight, so we just added weights.  You'll save some $ by not buying a green, but I couldn't tell you about a Kubota.

I would definitely go with the Kubota.

No slam on John Deere at all but in my opinion, Kubota makes the best small tractor out there.

How much use will it see? Are you going to just be bush hogging, or will it see some other use? I will say that the little Deere machines are pretty darn tough and heavier made inmates opinion. Deere all day if its going to get used.

I can't read all this without telling you about my New Holland TC 45. I've had it about 7 years and it does it all. It will lift a 950 lb 4x5 round bale on front and back, and stack them 3 high. It doesn't bog down in thick grass when bushhogging. You can run a square baler or haybine with it if the grass isn't too thick. For the money this thing is ideal. Same size as the Kubota in the picture but you will want that extra horsepower and hydraulic power to do the extra things that make all of the difference IMO. You can even get them with hydraulic pedal drive too which mine has. Makes quick work of things.

We have an m7040 kubota..its a little bigger than what your wanting its around 72 horse i believe, but I tell you what it is a hell of a machine, puts our case mx90 to shame

Thanks for the replies, I think orange is in my future.  Just need to decide on size and new or used.  Any special financing on new kubotas?  Jd had 0% on some models, but that was a while ago when I was looking.

My brother was a deere mechanic and according to him Deere was using Kubota engines for a time.  I am sure that has changed.  For the money I would  buy a Kubota, but we have several dealers very close.
