I still can't figure out why they would want a gay judge for a Miss America contest--its kind of like having a vegetarian judge a beef cooking contest!!  How would you like to be the gal that actually became Miss America---nobody is putting up any headlines about her and its really not her fault that idiot Perez was selected as one of the judges.  I'm glad Miss California said what she did--its about time that someone actually says what the majority of us feel!!

Comments From Today Show-

Carrie Prejean defended her views Tuesday on NBC's "Today" show, telling host Matt Lauer that she spoke from the heart during Sunday's pageant when she said that "marriage should be between a man and a woman."

The beauty queen's response to a question from openly gay pageant judge and celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has received more attention than the winner, Miss North Carolina Kristen Dalton. During the pageant, Hilton asked Prejean if every state should follow Vermont in legalizing same sex marriage.

It's obvious that the openly Gay Judge had an agenda that he was hoping to promote and was hoping the contestant would say something Politically Correct.  Looks like it back fired!  The Runner Up is getting more Publicity!

Prejean, who was named first runner-up at the pageant, told Lauer that she knew "at that moment after I'd answered the question, I knew that I was not going to win because of my answer." Still, she stands by her statements.

"I don't take back what I said," she told Lauer, adding that she "had spoken from my heart, from my beliefs and for my God."

"It's not about being politically correct," she said. "For me, it's about being biblically correct."

How is it not representing America by stating your Religious beliefs?  I thought the right to choose religions was a right!

I guess our Current Admistration does not want Christianity promoted at all?  Check out the link below,  Georgetown University covers up an Inscription of Christ for a speech by Presidet BO!

I can't believe they are not being tolerant of people who think differently than they do. Isn't this about being tolerant of others? Good for her, it is awful she had to lose because of it.

That's just the thing... I've learned in my lifetime that those who preach "tolerance" are usually the least tolerant of all.  Perez is a hypocrite in the worst way & all the obvious hate spewing from him just shows that he is not very tolerant at all.

IMHO, Miss California didn't lose... she may not have won the Miss USA crown, but she's still a winner.

So what's the qualification of Miss America, To be a fake politition?  She answered it in an honest yet nice way!  Standing up for what you truly believe will not always make you popular!  To be a true Christian, Christ said: "You will be hated because of me!    Just like showing cattle,  The people that truly understand and appreciate things don't always get the trophys!  Some times those in 2nd, 3rd or 4th accomplished more than the winner.  Seen her interview this morning, good for her!  (clapping)

Tony
A man once told me.  Second place or runner up is first loser, third second loser and so on...

Whoever it was that told you that is exactly correct, there is only 1 crown. Just a fact!

If you allow yourself to accept that there is only one crown and you didn't get it than you're a loser. Miss California may not have won the Miss USA crown but she has won a lot of respect with some people. Which is more important?

By the way, I have noticed no one is talking about the girl who actually got the crown. I'd say she lost the spot light.

I never said she was a loser, I said there is only 1 crown and that is what she was competing for, like it or not her statement did cost her the crown .  Having said that, I hope that my children would have the guts in that same situation to do the same thing, morals and values are not discretionary depending on who you're talking to.

That's exactly the point I was trying to make! Championships are great but sometimes IMO the one in 2nd might actually accomplish more in the game of life because they did it the right way!

I was agreeing with you Jill, just wasn't clear I guess. I meant that popular opinion (conventional wisdom) was say that since she didn't "win" the crown she was a loser.

What irked me is Perez said she's representing all Americans.  Well isn't being an American mean standing up for what you believe, and having that freedom to do so?  Isn't that what our country great and makes it America?  That young lady did what every American has a right to do, she stated her beliefs.  She even said she doesn't want to offend anyone but this is what she believes.  Perez Hilton showed a true lack of class calling her names and ranting and raving on National TV about it.  Just another jerk looking for his 5 minutes of fame.  Heck, how did he ever qualify as a judge for such a contest???
Exactly right! This IMO is the core problem with our country today! If we had every congressman voting from the heart and truly standing by their beliefs we might get this country turned around!  America has turned into the belief that you need to stand up for this Agenda and we will $$$$$  make you succeed!

Tony

IMO, there is one problem with the statement that "we need the congressmen to vote from his heart." They need to be voting what we the majority of the people that they represent want. I heard a Congressman or some other representative on Hannity the other day. He was from South Carolina I think is what he said. His words were about the bailout plan. He told them on the show that 95% of the thousands of calls he was getting were telling him that they did not approve of the bailout plan and did not want him to vote to approe it. He said he "had" to vote to approve it anyway. That guy needs to be gone when his term is up if not sooner!

I would love to see where this was said or read the qoute however it could be proved. He is NOT a man that would make a statement like that even if he did believe it. He has no problem offending us "gun toting, bible thumpers" but does not want to hurt anybody elses feelings.

Jason,
I believe he said it in one of the debates.

Have you noticed that ammunition and some type of guns are no longer available?  This was not done by the president, but by scare tatics of some people.  I wonder if the gun dealers have enjoyed getting to raise their prices and all the sales?  The president did not do this but he is being blamed.  He hasn't done a single thing.

There have been some very good post most on this theme.  People who preach tolerance are often the most intolerant.  They want others to be tolerant of their view but they cannot be tolerant of other's view.

The young lady showed her wisdom and heart in the way she answered.  There are no wrong answers when a person is asked a question about their views.  What is to be judged is the promptness and style of answer.  I judged a debate and the winner was the young man who was for abortion.  I wrote on his paper, that I totally disagreed with him, but he was better organized and did a marvellous job in his presentation.  That is all that a judge is to examine.

Our world has bent over backwards to tollerate other religions (other than Christian religions) to the point that you can be sued for simply stating a Bible passage.  We are living in sad times when everything associated with the Christian religion is being put in the closet rather than the living room.

I had a good friend who was homosexual.  She knew that I did not agree with her lifestyle, but we were very good friends.  She has passed on and is missed.  I have some very close friends that are adulterers, but we remain good friends even with their lifestyle.  My friend Sherry was no better or no worse than my friend Jay.  I am not their judge because I believe they are not living correctly, nor am I their executioner.  Some have elevated themselves to be judge, jury and executioner.  That position belongs only to God.  God did not ask me in His word to make people believe, only to teach them.  He loved all of us while we were sinners (Rom. 5:8) and showed His love and grace for us in giving His Son.  He asked us the have the same mind or attitude in our hearts (Phil.2:1-5).  This means we must preach His word in love, Eph. 4:15.  Religious people have been intolerant and now the tables have been turned by our judges, entertainers, and those who make our laws.  We have to hold to His truth and stand as Miss California stood in her very humble way.
