If you are trying to raise show calves, out of first calf heifers, listen carefully,Jake's Proud Jazz or Total Solution and not in any particular order. Most folks who have used both bulls will tell you Total Solution has just as good of calving ease numbers as Jake. In my opinion, and the Mrs. will back me up on this,Total Solution calves out of black cows tend to be stouter and sell better at weaning time. His weights fluxuates like any other bull, but mostly to the good. 58# to 80# not 73# to 110# like some calving ease type bulls. In most cases people fail to count the cow's side of the equation when breeding and sad as it is,there are probably some poor management skills.I like Angus as much as the next person, but when you have small numbers you have to think of quality when breeding crossbreds. There are exceptions to every rule, some folks have good luck with them I guess and that's fine by me.
