Here is a picture and video of Prophecy 21P at 9 years old, taken this April.  He is about to make the trip south of the border to work in his third purebred program, Y Lazy Y Shorthorns.  We are looking forward to seeing Ralph's cattle next week  <beer>
He is some peeved in this photo and video as he was just branded CAN right hip to meet Montana regulations (of course the red tape going both ways across the border is a whole other post)
Prophecy 21P has never had his feet done, and has never had grain since being developed as a yearling.

We are back after visiting Y Lazy Y.  I will post pictures in the next day or so.  I have to say I really appreciated the consistency of the herd and the fabulous udders.  The Easy bull is a fabulous beast with a lot of breed character, depth, and fleshing ability I will be sure to post a video and picture from this trip as well.  Thanks a million to Ralph and his family 219Z is definitely exciting and I am looking forward to his future here at Diamond

This was a great experience, beautiful country, impressive herd and great hospitality. I don't think you will find a herd of cows with better udders and more uniformity. Easy is a very exceptional bull and I'm pretty pleased to add a son to our herd bull battery. Even happier that he is out of one of Ralph's good uddered, easy fleshing functional cows. Visiting Y Lazy Y shows you that the right type of Shorthorn cattle really do have a place in the beef industry (thumbsup)

The only bad thing about Dan and Jamie’s visit was that it was too short! Not enough time to “talk cows”! As it was, I caused them to miss their 12:00 Border Veterinary appointment. I’m still waiting to hear how that experience went?
Diamond Prophecy 21P settled right in and bred his first two Y Lazy Y cows within 15 hours after being hauled 500+ miles, then spending the first night fighting off 5 yearling bulls with raging hormones eager to challenge all newcomers!  I hope to get some more pairs sorted off for him today. His disposition is great. He is all business when it comes to getting his job done. As Dan said, it’s hard to believe that he is 9 years old. The other herd bulls had their BSE’s done yesterday.  I asked the Vet to take a look at Prophecy while he was here. He commented that he doesn’t get to see many bulls this age, let alone that are still this sound. This Vet has to be very careful about what he says in “Business Breed” country, but he has started using Y Lazy Y Shorthorn bulls. It seems that actions do speak louder than words.

Actually our entire trip was pleasant, with only the one slight hiccup (missing the vet) who came back just for us a couple hours later.  When we unloaded 219Z to have his tag read he was very docile and easy going.  He actually slept the last 3 hours of his journey.  Currently he is with one of our other new bulls Eionmor Piper 23Z and two of Gordon Turner Farms new bulls at my place.  (Hilltop and lil Hilltop delivered one of the Gordon Turner Farms bulls yesterday).  219Z is a very exciting edition to our program when I make it to my parents I will grab dads camera with all the pictures so I can post them.

I have some awesome shots of some of Ralph's cows, and a decent picture of the Easy bull (too bad about the scratching post).  I highly recommend touring Ralph's herd to anyone, sound functional cattle, and an amazing host family!


I will miss Prophecy 21P he has always been such a lovely fellow to have around.  I am already planning on some exciting matings for his daughters which does include 219Z.

I agree with x-bar: hes really one of the better Shorthorn bulls around right now-given that alot of the high$ ones seem to have a very short life cycle for some strange reason-without longevity-they scare me as much as the BWS LOL-Please post all the pictures you can  O0
