Thought it would be interesting if folks shared what bulls really worked for them this past year. And maybe the ones who didn't. Let's not bash away on someone or some bull. Club calf, or purebred. I have one really good bull calf. Sired by 329(shorthorn).

What bulls will you use next spring or this fall?

we have a pretty nice heifer not gonna brag on her but she is better than her half sister out of carpe diem who got reserve champion chi at the spring show (smaller show but i was still happy :) at msu so she should be a fun one to show!  <rock> the cow is an alias that is very maternal in her make up her calf out of carpe could have used more depth of body but the walks alone has massive rib shape with the power and bone to back it up i will get a pic on here soon if i can. its allot funner showing your own cattle in the bred and owned shows ext.

we will be using walks alone or a son of his again bred most of our cows to i-80 this year so we will see how those turn out!  (pop)

I have fall babies by Singletary, Hooks Titus, Blazin Hot, SS Upscale, and Ellingson "Olie" all on the ground. So far they all look pretty good...I'm probably as excited about the Singletary calves as any of em, but there are good calves out of all those bulls. Also have a few purebred Angus calves by Yon Future Focus, Benefield Substance, GAR Ingenuity and GAR Prophet. Spring babies coming will be by MCM Top Grade, SS Upscale, and Upgrade. Our best spring weanlings are out of TNT Tanker, Blazin Hot and 3C Southbound, and those bulls will see more use in our herds, but I'm pretty undecided on what I'm using this fall. I do have 10 straws of Bold Future semen that will get used...I have some homework to do before I figure out the rest!

;)Call this however you want (self-promotion, etc.) ;)-- but my best calves this year are out of the bull I retained from an embryo purchase.  I was so happy when he was born a bull because I had been thinking all along that the breeding would be awesome.

Lead Outside the Box ET  ASA#4162691  His first calves this year were out of heifers and cows and they are all just carbon copies of each other in style and make-up.
He is definitely is an outcross and gives the same kind of style on all types of differently bred cows and heifers.
Check him out on my web page and pictures of his calves!!

There is semen for sale if anyone is interested!
Thanks
Emily

Good to hear all the Walks Alone and BIM fans, because my daughter has a steer out of each for this season's showing.  Really nice calves but still looking for the "Ringer"

I've got a real nice Shorthorn plus heifer sired by the Angus bull BC Classic.  My best Angus heifer is sired by BC Eagle Eye (followed closely behind by a Marathon sired heifer).

I too like walks alone a lot for the type of cows that i have. I have to say for his rookie calf crop i'm really impressed with the MAB calves ive seen this fall. I'm excited for the 2 cows i have bred to him this coming spring.

All my cows that I bred to him to we're 2nd to 5th calvers and I did not have one weigh more than 84 lbs (bull calf). The lightest was a 68 lb heifer. Now none of those were clubby bred. All Angus cross cows. He's made me a believer for sure.

Ok thanks! This helps boost my confidence. This is the first AI that I've done, she's due around late march. The cow is not clubby bred but her calves have been pretty good size. Hopefully everything goes well.

We've had around 40 calves by Captain Obvious this fall (I am pleased with them, all unassisted, they look good).  I've got a Sydgen Trust bull calf that I'm keeping out of a Garden Prime Star daughter (hopefully my new heifer bull).

I bred a simmi cow to him and she calved a bull 9 days past normal gestation. that calf was a spit fire. the best calf on the place but he made the trip to the salebarn.

Hands down the best sire to put out functional, correct show heifers had to be Mercedez Benz.  I went to 3 states, 9 ranchels Is and the "Benz" heifers were hard to fault.  Didn't matter if they were out of Maine cows, charolais cows, or herefords they were all just good structured functional show heifers.  I will be using him next year.

I am a maine breeder and the two best bulls I used this year was once again Majors Money Man and my herd bull Majors Boom Box

I will be using BIM again and like what im seeing out of MAB will be using him for colored up fall calves also had good luck out of comp. char bull No limits. I see where several of you all liked bodacious calves that's good i've got several of my spring cows are bred to him. My BIM fall borns are awesome will be using him heavy again. I also can't wait to see what the Hard Whiskey calves are going to look like especially the heifers. any of yall got some of them coming this spring i couldn't get the semen that was why i breed to bodacious.
