Here is the latest picture of our new Jr. Herd sire we own with High Ridge Farms and Little Cedara 24.  He is only 15 months in this pict.  With a bw to ww spread like no other bull I know of in the breed he could be a changer.  Im going to use him on my Doc Clark daughters at home and I think that will be one heck of a cross.

no not this year.  He is up in Canada with High Ridge getting ready for the fall shows up there before he comes back down here to get ready for Denver.  He will be at state fair next year hopefully though.

I really don't know that much about shorthorns but that looks like a beef bull to me.

He looks great! I was at the Revival sale last September where he sold. High Ridge is a good program and owned by good people.

I don't see an asterisk on his registration number on the ASA website.  Is he considered asterisk free even though Rodeo Drive, Gold Spear, and others in his pedigree have asterisks?  I guess I need to educate myself as to when and if those things disappear.  The bull looks very good, that's the main thing.

That ww is almost unbelievable. How was he fed? His ww is much higher, in fact way higher then any primo son. Beats the closest by a mile. That bull is also a LCCC bred bull. Interesting

Pretty sure you'll get roan calves in that cross ?!

A lot of people have had a large amount of success with Saskvalley Primo 40P we are proud to have been involved in the partnership. I like the looks of your new herd sire even more than I liked the looks of Primo which is hard as I love Primo's type congratulations! Hoping our embryos by Primo's sire look like Cabrera next spring. <beer>

Thanks for the kind words.  I really liked this bull when I got up to Beaverton last year.  Didn't really plan on buying him didn't think that I could afford him, but when I got the chance to partner on him after I was pretty excited.  He wont be at Agribition but he will be in Toronto and some other show in eastern Canada.  After that we are going to be bringing him back here to Kansas to get him ready for Denver.  The next year who knows what he is going to be doing.. besides breeding cows.  He was weighing over 500 last year at the sale so when I heard the ww I was suprised but not that suprised.  He was also the Weston Marys natural calf.  I have a half sister to him here at the house and she is a really good female and is about as easy keeping as they come.

I'm not knocking anything. That's a phenomenal ww. That's up there with the SAV angus bulls. I was just curious what it took to get him there. He looks good. His ww speaks highly of his dam. I have no problem with primo either but this bull blows the rest away.

Thanks again, I dont know how he was fed.  He was at LCCC until he was weaned then up to Canada where he has spent the winter and summer this far.

if he was at Little Cedar-He'd be in as good an order as possible-he didnt wean like that on grass and no creep-BUT NIETHER do alot of others-he looks good-like to see him from behind O0

Wow!  Very impressive individual, and GREAT numbers.  When I looked at his pedigree, I noticed his weaning weight was 2nd out of two.  What the heck was the other bull?

Cabrera is doing very well.. Got him out to his first show this past weekend, where he was Grand Champion bull. He really wasn't fed anything too special all winter. He was with a small group that received 14% pellets and good quality hay. The senior yearling heifer in our show string, a Casino granddaughter from one of the most successful cow families here at High Ridge, is bred to him and we are very excited about the mating. Because of his age this past spring, we didn't get to use him much.. By the time he was tall enough to reach, everything was bred,  LOL

Anyone feel comfortable breeding Cabrera to heifers, any calves out of him yet? Should we wait a bit to see his calf sizes? Thanks much!
