Looking for shorthorn bull suggestions

Hi! Newbie to the forum here. I purchased my daughter a shorthorn heifer this year to raise and exhibit for 4h. New to the shorthorn world  and I was looking for suggestions of bulls to check out. Planning on AI'ing her next month. I will attach a picture of the heifer. She needs something that will add more depth to her offsprings but also something that will offer calving ease. The heifer is out of TM GUS 36S ET X SC Irish Red.

Had a heifer like that last year that we bred to Jakes Proud Jazz. We are keeping her back as a replacement heifer. We really like what he added to the cow plus a 67 lb BW was nice. Everyone will have different opinions but I was impressed. Go look on the semen suppliers websites at shorthorn Bulls for ones you like with smaller BW's. Oh yeah welcome to the wonderful world of shorthorn cattle. We love ours!

Self promotion.  I would use Elbee Throwback.  He will put more guts and hip into the calf.  They come super easy and have great attitudes.  Plus he has sired as competitive calves as any calving ease bull in the breed especially considering his limited use.

And I can't disagree with Will. I have wanted to try Throwback as well.

Me 3-he will level out that sloping rear top that all the Gusses have too-And since your hiefer looks to have some grow-its a very good combo-probably the best there is for that type of hiefer-and keep the maternal after the guts and rib O0

I appreciate the suggestions thanks ya'll ! I will check those out. I showed myself back in the 90's and you could still halfway compete with something out of your pasture. Things have changed so much. I am super thrilled that my daughter has shown a interest!

My sister has used SVFI Uncle on purebred heifers-  he is a dsc too. I would still use him over alot of bulls in the breed today. I like the Elbee throwback suggestion too.  Jake's proud Jazz covered cows along time and is probably the most proven heifer bull in the breed with semen still available and he is dsc too.

Josh Mooreland on here has a good functional bull(Renegade) bred by the breeder of Sues Capt Obvious, and Kane Captain is another 1; unproven but: good looking ,great cattle ,low BW, thick ,and last but not least politically correct with big name owners-I'D USE HIM regardless-hes clean all 3 ways to boot O0

We have used A&T Renegade on our heifers last year and were impressed with the calves, came unassisted in 10 minutes and hit the ground vigorous and growing well!

Agreed Coyote. We need to make sure new people to the breed understand genetic conditions and can make informed decisions. We owe that to the breed and the people.
Bhurd, if you have any questions about Renegade feel free to call me, text, or email. I would highly recommend him on heifers and he should increase depth of rib and keep them moderate. He will mix well with TM Gus.

Spend 50 bucks and buy Hot Commodity semen. I'm at Louisville right now and there are a lot of really good HC calves here. No genetic issues either.

This is HC Bluebook 22B ET x who was recently named Canadian National Reserve Grand Champion bull at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. He topped our Sun Country sale last March at $32,000. I may be a bit biased, but I think he is a very complete bull. Excellent structure, performance with an 85 lb birth weight. He was born March 17, 2014 and he weighed 2010 lbs on November 2nd.
He is tremendously thick with a great quarter, and has great feet and legs. His dam is one of our very best donors and has proven herself as a great producer from several sires. We are showing a full sister to Bluebook and she may be the best female we have raised.
I have semen at Hawkeye Breeders, Adel, IA at $40/ straw for a limited time and then it will go back to $50/ straw. We also have semen in Australia and over 50% of it was spoken for, before the semen was released from quarantine down there.
He is THF, PHAF, and DSF. I am going to predict that he is also homozygous polled and he will be tested for this shortly. Right now, he is travelling back to Western Canada to be shown at Canadian Western Agribition next week. He is also entered in Denver and we are hoping to have him there as well.
