ON June 11 i gave my cow a shot of lutylase. The thing that happened was when i gave her the shot i stuck the needle in her and  got 4cc in her. She started jumping around in the chute so i had to pull  the needle out and i gave her like 30sec to settle down then i gave her the last 2cc in a spot about 5 inches down from the first spot. Today is the 5th day and no heat so far. What is my next step if she does not come in heat today?

Dosage is 5. If she didn't respond it's probably because she wasn't in the right phase of her cycle. The rule of thumb is wait 11-14 days after the initial shot and give her another.

Can I give her a shot on June 17? I am really running out of time. It is almost the middle of June.

Why are you running out of time?  You are looking at a nice late March calf if she comes in this weekend.  A Saturday breeding would put a calfaround March 30 for you.

Sure, you COULD. It might not work though.  You really ought to wait at least another couple days.  Is there anything wrong with an April calf?

you can get cows to cycle with just 2 or 3 cc, don't think dosage has anything to do with it.  She probably didn't come in because she might have just been in heat.  give her a week and try her again.

You really should wait till the 22nd or 23rd to give another shot.  The cow has to be at least 7 days post heat for it to have any effect and there is always a chance she did come in either a silent heat or very short heat in the middle of the night after the first shot and you missed her.

I would put the CIDR in and be sure.  If she does not respond right to the Lut when you give it you could lose even more time.  Better to take a couple extra days and be sure.  Also give her a shot of GNRH when you put the CIDR in so you are starting with clean ovaries.
Good Luck!
We just put CIDRS in the last three cows Monday night. <cowboy>
