I agree completely with CAB.

Our BIM calves definitely do not have the same depth as our MABs.  I have full sibs that are big girls.  One had a MAB and the other had a BIM.  No comparison that the MAB is a much better calf.  However, I do think the BIM will be a little later maturing so I am not writing them off.

We have both BIM and MAB calves.  had BIM last year as well.  MAB does what he does, extremely well.  makes them soggy and big legged.  for me and my preferences.  BIM calves come pretty reasonable at birth and get better everyday through weaning.  I will need to see if the MAB calves do the same, but looking at them side by side on similar cows (at my place), i am afraid the MAB calves may see there best days in the pasture along the cows and the BIM will see theres in front of a backdrop.  I am a sucker for a good looking one, and although the BIM calves are more slightly built at birth, my experience last year with them was they just continued to get better and maintained a really good look.  so , MAB and BIM are very different in type and how you need to breed them.  If i had a bunch of Total Play/ hannibal type cows i would use MAB.  good solid sim/angus or maine angus cows with some rib and power that need more wow get BIM
I have not seen any 2Tone calves, but for a bull with color, i expect him to breed more like BIM than MAB

I agree with Chap.  He is right, finally someone who gets it, and gets how these cattle are going to look like as time goes on.  Soggy and fat legged is good, but there is more to it than that to make one that wins.  Both Bulls have there place and both are two of the very top choices we have out there right now.

MAB will maintain or slightly downsize frame.  He bred very similiar to Monopoly for us.  MAB calves are chubby and soft made.  2Tones are stouter and straighter, stamps them similiar to Walks Alone.  Walks Alone has worked pretty well for us for the last 3 years but we cannot seem to get the same results with BIM.  I thought BIM would downsize but it has really been the opposite.

I hope this will help...We had a MAB steer last year.  Huge bone, good disposition. Out of big framed Black Dice cow (we bought the calf and we didn't know the cow was large framed until after his last show).  The calf picture is below as well as a summer picture about 45 days before our county fair.  Hip heighted at 53 inches just before county fair.  Held him for the last 60+ days and got him to weigh in at 1385.  If I had to do that year over again, I would have fed him much harder earlier to burn him out.  Hindsight = 20/20

Tons of hair also even during spring and start of the hot summer. Not sure the picture is showing up.

I have 6 mab calves. Best one is solid black, good every where but has some throat. Other 5 are just OK, some shoulder, a few other issues, but big boned.  A lot of hype on this bull and im not sure why.  I think these calves are a lot like the sun seekers were when he was popular.Good as babies, never really look any better than when they are a month old. I also have some BIM calves and I will say with out a doubt they are much better cattle. They are the kind that are winning today. However, i do think they have a different maturity pattern, the kind cattle should have, and they get softer stouter and better everyday. BIM vs MAB I pick BIM.  And really no contest.BIM winning a lot more and selling higher.

You sure hit a homer on that one!! The mab x horn cross is flat killing it! Congrats on producing that one!!

Thanks! I just realized the picture I had as my profile is actually the dam of this heifer calf. She got reserve supreme at our fair and didn't get the chance to show her elsewhere. She isn't the showy type they are looking for but more the finished cow look according to the judge.
