Let's say that both types of Shorthorns, when used properly, can contribute a lot of good things to a herd. So long as you don't get too extreme in any one direction.

Waukaru is synonymous with large framed cattle! Understand I have nothing against Jordans, and I haven't seen the calves. But herd prefixes get stereotyped, we have the same problem with ELBEE being associated with "dinks". Let the calves speak for themselves the good "eyes" will pick the good cattle.
Lee, Lets get the terminology right here Waukaru has "performance oriented" cattle while the ELBEE cattle are more "functional in their design." The right adjectives are crucial to promoting cattle. It is better to be stereotyped then to never be heard of at all. Also stereotypes change, when we first started raising shorthorns every one told us that Gizmo was a clubby bull. I saw Robert's Gizzy donor and thought she was the clubbiest female I had ever seen and I didn't want our females to look like that. A few years go by and I start seeing all these good functional Gizmo daughters and I'm kicking myself for not using him.
DL, Fred's had a few shorties for along time. The ones I've seen promoted usually had clubby breeding. As far as him getting serious about it why not Sullivan's already turned the breed upside down let's get more people to the party.
Finally back to the original post. My feeling is that good calves will sell themselves and those look like good calves. The bull has a marketable pedigree, I wouldn't worry at all about selling the calves.
