Maternal Maine bull that can use with heifers

Right now I'm looking at Gigilo Joe, Tyson, and Rocky Balboa. Any other suggestions?

Oakbar...do you know of anywhere I can see pictures of his offspring I went to Braun's website and couldn't find any

No, I've never used any of the bulls mentioned. I have just followed Maines a lot. I have several purebred Maines but we breed them to Shorthorn bulls. It actually works alright for calving ease. When we do breed our Maines to Maine bulls we have only ever got bull calves and one Ali heifer. Was never really that impressed with Ali, not compared to crossing the same cows with a Shorthorn bull. Sorry I can't help more.

I really believe the best Maternal bull of the Maine-Anjou breed for the last 20 years is FR Magic 179X.  Now that so many cows are a little too small framed, Magic should work even better.  The deepper flanked the cow, the better to use the Magic bull.  Semen availability is tight, but still around, and not too expensive.

My heifer is a cunia great grand daughter, since shiver is a cunia grandson should I be worried about something being wrong with the calf or is it far enough back in the pedigree that It shouldn't effect anything?

When u linebreed animals two things are going to happen:  something realy good is going to come, or something with a lot of flaws are really going to come.  I've raised dogs for awhile and linebreeding is big in the dog business, but with dogs u have eight to ten chances usually.lol With cows , u have one chance.  But to answer your question i would think that is close at all.  Breeding a heifer back to her grandpa on either side would be close and that is linebreeding.

The day the heifer calved I went to school and she was fine. When I got home there was a 75 lb. calf in the lot. ha. She had no problem having the calf on her own.

We have had great luck with HAA New Level that was owned by Bushy Park.  Calves come great with lots of "go",  and so far we have kept all of our heifers and they are great mothers and milkers, something most new maine bulls are lacking.  We have bred all or most of our heifers to him the last 3 or 4 years and have had NO problems.

I've used Majors Money Man ALOT...my heard bull is even out of him.  Very easy calving, calves really take off, and I find them extremely marketable.  I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend using him on a heifer
