Maternal Simi bull that will add hair

Any thoughts on which simi bull would be the best choice to make females while adding hair? Thanks.

The best haired simmys I've seen have been dream ons he also has a great set of maternal numbers but then again he was used to the hilt but they're still pretty tough

We had some, now you have to remember these were the traditional red and white simmental.  Most of the calves were black blaze faces, as our simmi bulls were goggle eyed.  Parisian breeding if I rememer correctly.  I have some pics of our 1/2 sim 1/4 hereford 1/4 galloway females.  I will see if I can scan them.  They looked an awful lot like the black blaze face club calf moms you see today.

Well I sure wouldn't consider Dream On a maternally oriented bull unless you are comparing him to maybe Heatwave.  I have used Trademark quite a bit and the females make wonderful cows plus they all seem to have lots of hair.

i used Trademark this year for Foundation cattle.  I bred him mostly to carrier females with the hope of producing some salable half bloods that might also work as cows.  I also used SVF/NJC High Voltage on heifers.  Both are purebreds.  I would also look at Built Right for momma cows.

Huh that must be why those dream on half blood hiefers never brought anything (except a pile of$) pretty sure I wouldn't use trademark for fear of gutless cripples

If you can find it and are willing to pay the price Wheatland bull 131L, "Teddy", is backed by a great cow family and adds hair like no other simmi.

You are keeping me on my toes, Mooch. Yes, the Dream Ons out of my Cissy donor made great cows.  The dam is a big part of the equation.  With a minus 5 or so for maternal milk, Dream on is about as low as it gets in the breed for adding milk so the dam has to do it if you want to raise females that can go beyond the showring and raise good calves.  DM makes great show heifers for sure but will they milk?  The question was about bulls that are materal and will add hair.  I can think of other materal bulls in the breed that I like better but they don't seem to add hair.

we always had problems with fertility in the dream on daughters we owned, no longer own any and havent ever bred to him for that exact reason

I'm no expert but ill agree , the dream ons are far from the most maternal critters on the range ! I have some older black genetics that flat out spank my dream ons in everything except phenotype !

OK, I'll comment. All of our Dream On's are EXCELLENT mothers and great milkers. Most of our small herd has some dream on influence in them somewhere in the last 3 generations of the pedigree. If Dream On is so bad, why are there SO MANY of them out there, and everyone groping for his semen? Why does he have the top numbers in registrations? Yes, his EPD is low, but we have to remember the EPD only tells part of the story. That is poor mothers thrown in with good mothers alike. Look at his API, that tells you the overall picture and anything over 100 is good. I would never shy from buying a Dream On influenced heifer, we have just had great luck with them...
BTW, our good Built Right cow (by Dream On) is a true example, weans a big calf (twice now) and has a perfect udder. Bred back as a three year old on her 45 day calf heat via AI to STF Dominator! We moved her from an April 1st calver to a End of February calver (due Feb 27th). That says something about fertility...
All of our Dream On influenced heifers caught on the first AI date this Spring, the two that are not Dream On did not; just a point.

My Mo Better daughter has good hair, and I've got a DO / Triple C Ponderosa Rey heifer that has TONS of hair.  My entire calf crop this past year has been exceptionally hairy... the bull was Perfection (Miss Break) x Mo Town, and keep in mind, I'm in Texas.

 When you say "Perfection", are you talking about the Simi bull that Limestone ranch own,SF  Mr. Perfectionist?
