As Im looking at this, I'm thinking i need to apologize to everyone on here for not replying to ths earlier. Honestly, I dont follow these boards as well as I should to answer questions and for that I"m sorry and promise to do better! Always know however you can feel free to call at anytime, I wll do my very best to respond ASAP. I will first answer the questions on Secret Agent and then repost some info on Apollo. First off, Secret Agent is in fact a flushmate brother to DHF Jades Dreamworks. Dreamworks and Agent both are Dream On x Black Jade, and are flushmate brothers to past Junior National Champion females as well as several other major show winners. In our opinion, Jade is one of the most versatile and prolific females of the breed and we were beside ourselves to have the opportunty to purchase these embryos from Oran Wolfe and Kip Bonnel. One half of Dreamworks was purchased privatley by Triple C farms of Wisconsin while he was still on the cow. At their dispersal last fall, the Dreamworks progeny commanded an astonishing average and even made recip cows that he happened to miss eggs and calve natural to him bring well over $5000.00, not once or twice, but throughout the entire dispersal. This should speak well for the bulls genetic ability and power and the potency of his mother. Secret Agent was named aptly for this reason. Triple C had purchased walking rights as well as half semen revenue on Dreamworks....we figured no one would ever know about the brother we turned out for ourselves to cover cows here. Much to our surprise, little brother may have out-bred Dreamworks!!! The post on here that qouted the dollar amount of progeny sold on here out of Agents first calf crop was accurate, except they forgot to include a few very important facts, there were over $100,000 in progeny sales on only 5 head...2 of which had recpient mothers and were sold at public auction, 3 of which were sold privatley and included a bull we syndicated last year we call Drakkar.
Now about the bull. Agent is in my opinion a curve bender and breed changer that has versatility and use beyond purebred and percentage cattle. You here a ton of guys out there make pretty bold statements about a purebred bulls ability to sire hair, bone and muscle or work in a club-calf operation and breeding program, please remember as you read this, we do both purebred and club-calves so any statement I make of the bulls quality or in physically describing him is comparitive to all breeds or composites not just Simmes. Straight up...Agent is YACK haired!......(strange I know to say that of a Simme, but I look at him and his progeny everyday in a pasture that also has club-calves in it)... the right kind of hair, soft base coat with long straight guards........very easy to manage and clip. Dream ON and Jade were both very good that way so anyone that is familiar boh parents, this should come as no surprise. To desribe him: 51 1/2 inches as a 3 yr old, extra loose structured HUGE feet and way athletic, added body and super good in his heart girth and flank. Big and soft boned with FLAT and CLEAN joints, and many that have viewed him as a mature bull think he is a Chi-Maine due to his front body third construction (thanks guys, we try to keep them good looking)...NO CHEST, glass shouldered, and GREAT headed and necked, not to mention smooth polled.
We syndicated a bull last year out of his first calf-crop we call Drakkar. Drakkar has been used extensively in embryo transfer this past spring by his shareholders and has been flushed with sexed and un-sexed semen alike to such females as our Perfection donor and this years past Denver Champion Simmental female owned by Koty Allen. I retained walking rights on Drakkar and personally turned him out this past spring to pen breed and clean-up a set of club-calf oriented females that I first AI'd to his sire Secret Agent (calving ease). This group of Maines and crossbreds would include flushmate sisters to several females that have DOMINATED the jackpot circuit this past spring and summer such as a full sister to the Sooner female shown by the Udell family in IA...some I purchased for replacemets that were not cheap!
Im a horrible bull promoter in the fact that I dont conitnually advertise and push semen sales on a bull, the fact is a person will always make more money selling good cattle than a unit of semen and these are the bulls that we rely on here to do just that. We will be showing a string of purebred Simmes throughout the fall and winter show season this year and next. The majority of these cattle will be sired by Secret Agent and Dreamworks, we believe in these bulls and their mother and are planning on building the next stage of our cowherd around their genetic influence. Additionally, Drakkar we be in this string along with a full sibling sister and several other heifer and bull calves sired by Dreamworks and Secret Agent. Look them up if you are in Louisville or Denver and see for yourself. I will be taking mature bull photos of every single herd sire here this fall and updating our web-site with these, my apologies for not having them done sooner, but my time has been VERY occupied setting up this new place for the last couple years. Watch our site for details and photos on these bulls, and thankyou to those that have used Dreamworkswith success, or your positive comments on Agent and his progeny that you have seen here at the farm. Please feel free to call at anytime with any questions about the bulls or their progeny, or better yet, stop by and see them in person.
Thankyou,
Brad Hanewich
