Melatonin

I’m hoping to give my steers on melatonin to help grow their hair. Our final show is our county fair where they get loaded on the truck right after. Does melatonin have a withdrawal time?

All though it has been used for years to help with hair growth it is not approved by the FDA for use in food animals. Using melatonin in cattle destined for food production violates federal regulations, as it is considered an unapproved. They never tested for it in the past but it sounds like they may, at least at our fair.
