Are you thinking of sending some OZ calves there? That would be the coolest. 8)

BTW we will be weaning Winkie, Midnight and the rest of the calves in a couple of weeks. It will be interesting to see how much the "little" guy weighs.

How do you sign calves up for this , i have a bull calf i would love to take

You can Google them and find the info on the website (www.midlandbulltest.com).  Just a thought:  Midland is the tip top of the bull tests and sales and is HUGE.  I wouldn't say that "no one" takes just one head, but I'd be surprised if anyone did.  It's usually full of top producers taking several head.  It's broken into breeds and commercials in some of those breeds.  The top 70 to 80% in each category sell at the end of the test (April).  This year, in Angus alone, 750 head sold.  I do see on their home page that some of the breeds that wouldn't necessarily be considered the best known for range bull potential (Maines, here) had just a few (Maines only had 2) so maybe you 'could' take one head and not feel threatened.  If you go, good luck to you!

Agreed Dori.

Show Steaks, you should probably look into a local university bull test station. That maybe a little more suited for your bull calf.

Our breed is doing their National Bull Test there this year, so we hope to have 120 head on test.  I have heard it is an amazing place so I am very excited to give it a try.

SD--yes, I am sending 2 Oz calves.

Just looked at the pictures you sent me and WOW!  It must sound like a T-Rex is running by when those boys go to the bunk. 8)

It is great to see you doing this as a breed. It says a lot about the association and it's members to stand behind the genetics of their cattle like this. The future of Braunvieh's in the American herd is full of opportunities. I for one will be anxiously waiting for the results. But I won't be surprised by them since we know they will be tops. And that is only part of the reason why I have 4 of these beautiful and functional beasts in my front pasture.

What are the beginning and ending dates (test #) of the test?

Good luck (you won't need it but thought I would say it anyway).
