Ok, so we are STILL waiting on our heifer to calve, and she is due today, looked like she could have it any day for a week now.  For those of you that have had Money Man calves are they early, on time, late or all of the above?

Jill - according to Colleen (who has had bunches of MM) they are early. According to DL who has had a few - they are early - up to 15 days early - and vigorous - full of P&V - have you palpated her? feet and head in right direction? good luck

No, we might want to do that it sounds like.  This is the stocking legged show heifer from last year, she stuck AI on the 1st shot and was never with a bull, so I have a good date on her.

Yeah Bob said they are normally about 10 days early

Let us know when she delivers.  We have 2 heifers bred to MM.

He palpated her this morning, has front feet and head about 8 inches in.

is he downsizing? I bred him to a cow that can afford to be downsized & one that doesn't need it. Any thought?

I think he will downsize.  Our bull out of him is on short side, but wow is he a meatwagon and very eye appealing.  But I really think the cow will come in play some.  I think he'll compliment Rose really well.

wha-hoo, our long awaited March calf has finally arrived...Just kidding (clapping)
Sassy finally calved yesterday morning, the coldest day of the year temp 0 wind chill -8, we spent most of the day trying to save her ears, I have a much greater respect for those of you that deal with these really low temps all the time.  She had a 72 pound heifer calf, and we may be a little prejudiced, but we think she is going to be fabulous. 
We have seen the bull in person at Majors and he is very moderate framed, but judging by the size of the cannon bone, I don't know if he downsized this heifer at all, but she is 3/4 Shorthorn so that may put different thing into the equation, we'll have to see how the baby grows.

I was going to say "What a cutie" too!!  I live in town for the time being, so I dont get to see new babies that often any more.  They get more and more cute every year it seems!

MM heifer this am - so cold that her hair froze as she hit the ground - but a spunky little fart - tossed her in the warmer and she is good to go - looks like she will be as nice if not better than the other MM heifer who was born 12 days early in Dec (probably didn't want to have a name that began with a U~ This one was 7 days early has on 2 polar fleece coats as it is still below zero and the wind is wicked. As some of you know my Sunflower (double clean Magic x Draftpick) bred to Midas calved last week in worse weather and it was a wierd calving followed by prolapsing her uterus - at 4 am -20 with 50 mph winds - the calf is rally stout for a Midas and very cool and spent most of his first 3 days in the warmer! Heifer, calf and farmer have pretty much recovered - that cold is exhausting! My Gizmo heifer is absolutely awesome an some day I will have pictures ...my MM bull calf (also early) had it job opportunities curtailed by a jaw issue - but it does give us another gene to hunt  ...so far so good...a=everyone is alive and well

The pictures need to be resized, I resized them to half, but that must not work very well.  Sorry to hear about your cow, I feel so bad for these girls in the freezing cold.  I know our warmer box pays for itself every year and did again this year.  Logan is having a hard time coming up with U names, this is his 4th heifer, he likes the name Sharpay from High School Musical because she is pretty and cool and has everything she wants, go figure, I told him we would talk about it, I still have a couple of months to talk him into a U name.  It's suppose to warm up here, hope it spreads your direction.

Cute baby! Are those ear muffs? Logan can always do the U1 Sharpay! I thought about that too because U is not all that appealing a letter!
I also thought of U da cow 1, U da cow 2 (but that is pretty stupid!)

The heifer with the prolapsed uterus looks really good - it could have been a disaster and I have certainly seen disasters after prolapsing but I think we won - most of the time these cows go on and do OK if the make it past the first couple of weeks - so I am hopeful  She seems to feel pretty good and actually let the calf nurse (he is an aggressive little fullback type fellow) without being tied or in the calf gate - so all and all I am feeling good. The new MM heifer is bouncing and eating so I think I may get a whole nights sleep for the first time in a month YEAH!
