Monopoly Mature Pic

I was looking at Lautners blog and saw this. Thought some people on here would be interested in it.

Is it just me or does he look extremely small framed. You can tell the camera is clearly pointed to the ground to take this pic. I hope he was on a ladder when taking the pic cause it looks like his head is just barley above the fence. I really like the calves but I still hope for some good heifers to keep and if they are 1300 lbs and not even 6ft tall its about pointless I just can't put something like that in my herd. Im having the same trouble with some eyes on the money heifers I kept. They look awsome as 400-600 Lbs but a year later they still dont have any frame to them. Looks like there is only 1 option for offspring and thats market animals.

Monopoly calves are distinctly bigger than Eyes on the Money or Jimmy the Greek calves.  Not even close.  Those two are way to small.  My Monopoly calves are just right height wise for the most part.  Out of about a dozen calves this year, I only have one calf that might not be a frame 4 or bigger.

I am with you ATM OH, I also give them credit for releasing it. Where I am at I don't get to get around to a lot of farms etc and see many of these sires so it is nice to be able to see one of these mature sires.

No Im talking when mature not as heifers.

IMO 72 in mature height is still waaaaaaaaaaay too tall.  That would take us back to the 80's frame race.

72" hip height at 24-months would be a frame score 16.5

Gotta say I think the bull looks good.  Way better than some clubby bulls that you see mature pics of.  Honestly, makes me want to use him a little more

What I don't like is his rounder bone make up. That is what can get you into trouble regarding soundness issues. It's hard to cushion those pasterns on round bone.

I have to say that Monopoly is one of the few clubby bulls that I have seen who actually maintain a good body condition after all of the pampering.  I think he still looks like the same bull and carries that thickness throughout.  You have to appreciate his bone and structural correctness that he has being out of Heat Wave and everything.

My first thought when looking at this mature picture of Monopoly was .... if only they all looked this good when they matured.  I guess I would have to say that I have been totally shocked when  seeing many of the clubby bulls when they were mature or even past the calf stage. To be quite honest, I have seen a few well known clubby bulls that would not ever be turned out by the average commerical producer. I have also seen a couple decent ones, but the majority should have been dog meat . I know many of these sires breed better than they appear themselves, but some don't.

Pictures can be deceiving so it is hard to see just big he is.

The bull looks good. Much better than his poppa did in his old age. Actually like his size and he actually looks more masculine than I thought he did in his younger pics.

I wouldn't make too many judgements about the bull based on the picture..but you can tell he looks good structurally speaking(not hunched over like heatwave)

There was a pic of MONOPOLY  on Matt's blog last year ,after he came back from hip surgery,and you could tell by that pic that the bull was not a big bull.

I'll go the other way and say thank God he is a moderate/smaller framed bull. What else can you breed those frame 6.5+ Maine genetics to and a moderate, functional, easy fleshing animal.

Like the fact that his toes are pointed the the right direction and still maintaining hair as a bull.

looks like a hairy little miget clubby bull to me. doubt he could get up high enough to breed any cows the old fashoned way however. just looks like a bull i guess. oh rejoyce he can stand up - (clapping) that should be a given, he is a bull. bovine. put him out and let a boy survive on cubes and hay. and ill give the bull credit. thats what ours do, and they cover tracks at 8 years old and still look awesome
