If you are a breeder who has a couple hundred cows, you are able to get one a little chubby to show, because chances are you will have another 10 bred the same way. If you are anything like me and run a limited number of females, you have to be careful getting one too fat because if you lose the calf you lose 9 months of production which becomes a large % of your years turnout. However, I am not one to say much, because we are often the ones with heifers that are criticized for being thinner than the others, but we always get them bred the first go around and calve them out with little to no difficulty.
