Welp, the long awaited A.I. calf #1 arrived last night. About 8:30 in the evening and 55 degrees, my little sister's cow decided to deliver a week early.  Nice little Angus bull calf out of OCC Homer. Weighed up at 80 pounds. I'd like to send a special thanks to the cow, OCC Homer, and Harold Miller for making this calf possible.  ;D Here's the little boy this morning.

Thank ya. This bodes well for all the other females I tried to breed last year, so hopefully we'll have a pasture full of nice little A.I. calves.  (clapping) All of our Angus calves will be on the ground here within another month. The LimFlex commercial  calves won't be coming until May and June, but it was nice to have an early one. Next time someone asks what to breed a heifer too, I'm suggesting Homer. This dude was up and going just an hour after the water bag popped.

Congrats on the first AI baby.  I know its exciting!  Most if the OCC bulls are excellent on calving ease.  We use OCC Legend on our first calvers and love the babies.

Congrats! I really like the Homer bull myself. I remember my first A.I. baby. I was practically passing out cigars. Still amazing to me each time I make a new one! Makes me excited to do it again soon!

Thanks to all y'all. Ya, pretty cool that you can create a calf. Amazing stuff. Christe is hoping for like a $10,000 syndicated bull, if she knew what that was.  (lol) Well, big brother is here to help. Night all.

(lol) Well, it was so cold last night that I had a blue heifer calf this morning. Got frost all over her face, down her back, and on her tail. Cute bugger out of a first calf commercial heifer of mine. 70 pounder and she'll probably weigh 150 by weaning. Mama doesn't hardly have enough milk for a jack rabbit, much less a full size calf. So, we'll have to keep an eye out today and maybe bring that pair in and get some colostrum in that baby's belly.

Now that things have warmed up, that baby is going to town. Up and running and bucking and old blue took right to her calf. They have paired up real nice.
