Thought I would post an updated picture of my Son's Amen calf that we got out of a Charolais X Angus X Hereford cow I AI'd to him. This is at 6 months, 550 lbs. 1 1/2 wks on a halter, we took him to a jackpot show just to get him in the ring, he was 200 lbs lighter than the rest of the steers there, he didn't do as good as I hoped, but he has a great disposition and I am excited about the potential. I am really happy with him. Lots of Hair and Bone, big top in him, maybe a little coarse shouldered? Any thoughts on him let me know, good bad or indifferent. Thanks.

Your steer is the looks like the type that will be a good Fat Steer, he will get better as he grows into his frame. He may not win allot of jackpots, but may just dominate at the end.
We always made a conscious decision to pick calves that would peak as fats, and your calf looks like that is what he will do. I think you will be happier and happier with him as he grows and develops. I would not stop showing him in jackpots, I just would not get disappointed at this point if he does not do as well as you want him to. If he stays together and grows well you will be fine.

Good luck with him and have fun.

Wow, nice calf, I have thought about using Salty Dog. They do look to be about the same in conformation. Thanks for showing your pic.
