My steer as warts

I've treated previous steers with one or two small warts by cutting them off and drying them out for 3/4 days and then putting them in their feed. Recently my current steer has got 15+ BIG warts on his face. Very close to his right eye and above his nose and under his chin and he has two on his back left foot above his hoof. Will this treatment still work with this many big warts? Or do I need to try a different method? I'd appreciate the advice, thank you

The best product I have ever used on warts is "warts off" by Sullivan's supply. It is a topical treatment that should be applied to the warts probably twice a day and I normally get rid of them within a week or so. I have found that this works well especially around sensitive areas on their faces. I have had a lot of success with the product and it lasts for quite a long time

Do you know about how much that is? So with that I don't even have to cut them off? It just heals it by itself?

We had several calves with warts. They now make a vaccine and it is 50 bucks for multi dose vial.

I just looked it up for you it is 8.95$ that's not including shipping obviously but it is pretty cheap. I have only bought it once and it has treated 3 head of cattle for me and I still have it so it is a good buy if you ask me.

I am a firm believer in buying the vaccine and giving our calves a dose as soon as we put them in the pen.  I then do another booster in 3-6 months. Basically trying to get ahead of the whole wart thing. It has really seemed to help prevent them or reduce them significantly.  But once started and already in place on the calves, that is another story.  Do a search on here, there is a ton of ideas and recommendation for warts.  From cutting them off, to using John Deere Fluid Film, etc.  Good luck, I know it's frustrating.

thank y'all so much. I'm going to continue to do my research on it. I'd like to get them off once and for all! I only have 4 months left with him so it's not too long

We always used a sharpened dinner spoon and 'scooped' then off. May not work with 15 though..

I had a bull that broke like crazy with them this fall. It has taken time but I cut half of them off and the other half has finally fell off. Our vet said that is still the best way. It releases the virus so the body will fight it off. He said that the vaccination only works for the specific strain.

So just cutting them off is good enough? Or should I still dry them out and put it in his feed?

I second the warts off! I had a heifer last spring that had 10 of them around her face and eyes and it worked great. In 2 weeks they were gone applying it twice a day. Like the previous post said if its around sensitive areas like around their eyes.

An old-timer I used to show for always cut off numerous ones then rubbed them hard back into the cut area (stimulate an immune response).....I have continued to do this then chop them up fine and mix them in with some grain and feed them back to them....Or cut off a bunch from the non-show cattle, cut them up and feed them to the show cattle.....have seen warts disappear in 10-14 days doing this!  Good Luck!

thank you, I haven't had time to go buy anything so I just ended up cutting them off this morning and I have them in his feed for tonight, thank you for all the responses!
