I would like to thank everyone for thier kind words and best wishes.
Dorothy "Billie" Stephenson was more than my grandmother, she was my confidant, my room mate, and my best friend. I had the opportunity to live with my Nan for the last year and a half under the pretense of looking after her. The reality was she had spent a lot more time worrying about me and making sure I was on time.
Some history on Nan is that she moved to Canada as a war bride in February of 1946. Frimley Shorthorns was named for the dance where my Nan and granddad had met. Nan was a city girl from London England who was accustomed to running water and city lights. She arrived in the very low negative temperatures of a western Canadian February with two small children and no luggage as her trunk was missing in action. She had to move in with her in laws and adjust to the extreme tempertaures without the creature comforts. She passed away with the thought that the city was getting too close and that lights were unneeded expenses.
Nan and Granddad had 4 kids, Terry, David, Paula and Dan. Terry and Dave were 10 years older then Paula and Dan. Nan was active with the cattle first with helping granddad and dad, and later helping dad and us. She had a large amount of pride over her cattle and had purchased her last herdsire Glenford Captain 39X. Her cow herd consisted of 15 cows which she was determined to carry on because she felt that they were Granddad's legacy.
Nan had died of complications caused from human error at the hospital. Which has made this incredibly difficult for us at this time. We miss her very much. Her funeral was today at 2pm.
