N/C Parents advice needed!

Any parents out there who had/have a young child diagnosed with acid reflux?  We have a 9 month old little guy who struggles with reflux at night.  He is currently given prevacid and colic calm.  There have been a lot of sleepless nights around here lately, and we are looking for any help we can get.  Everyone tells us that he will grow out of it, but we sure aren't there yet.  Any tips or tricks or remedies would be greatly appreciated.

Hope your little guy does grow out of it. There's not much worse than having a child with any type of health concerns. I know of a gal that is probably 10/12 that has had issues with acid reflux her whole young life and has had quite the battles on & off with it, but I don't know any real specifics. Her mother used to be a customer of mine. If down the road a little you find yourself wanted to talk to someone that has been in your shoes at least to some degree, I could call & ask her if she would mind visiting with you. Sometimes it helps to find someone that understands what you are dealing with. In the meantime I'll be thinking of you & your family Sparty On. Brent

Our youngest had that 20 years ago.  At that time they put her on Tagament and a special formula.  It is horrid to say the least!!  My thoughts and prayers are with you. It was Nutramagin and I am sure I spelled that wrong.  We put her on the dry and turned it on to sleep that help and a swing helped and driving around the country side.  I know what you are going through.

  We have a son that will be 3 in August. He started suffering with reflux issues as an infant. We were continuously told that when he started eating solid foods that it would get better. It didn't. It was so bad that we couldn't get him out of his highchair before he was vomiting it back up again. We were trying Prevacid, but it was not helpful in the least. His weight also became an issue~he was negative on the growth curve for a long time. At a year old we started seeing a Pediatric GI specialist. He had a gastric emptying study, an Upper GI, and a PH Probe study done. The gastric emptying study showed how his stomach emptied and at what speed. The upper GI showed how he swallowed and how much reflux happened in about 15 minutes. The PH Probe was placed through his nose and taped in place. The end of it was placed in his esophagus to record the level of acidity for about 18 hours. The PH Probe study was an overnight visit in the hospital. At the conclusion of these tests, we were referred to a Peds surgeon for a Nissen Fundoplication. In this surgery, which was laparoscopic, they took part of the stomach and wrapped it around the esophagus. This was stiched in place. This is to prevent him from being able to vomit or reflux. This surgery was done in December 2009. It worked beautifully. After he had healed and was back to a normal diet, he no longer had ANY reflux or vomiting. Unfortunately, the wrap has slipped on his esophagus and he has started to reflux again.This only began about 2 months ago. He is having this surgery redone on this Tuesday. Please know that there is only about 5% of these operations that have to be redone. I hope that your little guy finds some relief very soon. I truly understand how difficult this can be~not eating right, weight issues( my little one will be 3 in August and doesn't even weigh 25 lbs), it can also be a huge hinderance when it comes to sleeping. I think that Brandon has maybe slept through the night 10 times his whole life. If there is anything else that we can answer, please dont hesitate to ask.
