I have waited long enough.....
I am not a hamley fan. His stide doesn't suit me, a bit short and narrow. Plus, I question his ability to throw sound, easy fleshing milking daughters. Maybe I am wrong, time will tell.
If the shortie people are looking for something to use on those 10,000 hard keeping clean fronted cows, look north. The Sex Mile and Soo line have an awsome line up of bulls that are super deep, very thick, easy fleshing, and correct in their movement.
AJ, Make Mimi is known for calving easy and maternal ability. Probably not known as a "power bull", but makes wonderful females. I will let you know in about 7 days, as I have one coming (Hard to judge from one calf, but better than heresay!)

Not to rain on the parade but, in my opinion, I thought the Hamley's were to narrow based. It will also be interesting to see how they fair in the long run as I am worried about there feet.

There were some real good RA cattle in Denver but the one that caught my eye was the bull GRNA Signature 823. A 5L Signature son out of a New Trend daughter.

He is a nice bull but he is about four ribs short. I realize forearm is a muscle indicator, but that dude is course shouldered. He is looks like he has more then enough set to his hind legs. I guess for me he is ok. He really does not show me anything that would lead me to believe he could be a type changer.
I will admit I am new to the breed, but not new to the industry. For me a bull must offer consistency above all. I see that in the heifers out of Hamley. TC string in L'ville had that. The cattle had muscle with in addition to length of spine. They had bone. They had muscle. I realize he is not for everyone, but for me he could work.  I have been a horn breeder for just short of 30 yrs. I use Above and Beyond on my heifers. I have recently started working on starting a set of RA cows. My base will be from Three Fires. I love Kurts Cattle. They are maternal and have the look I need to sell clubby looking steers or female. I realize the bread and butter of the breed is the commercial man. For me it is the show ring. You gotta breed what pays the bills.

Show Heifer: Any time you want to see some easy keeping moderate shorty cows I'll post some pictures for ya.

Here is our latest photo of our foundation female from Kurt and Paula.

AJ - a scurred bull cannot be registered as a 1A, only a 1B because it has disqualifying features. RW

Nope, no offense taken. I consider myself a left of center horn breeder. We do our own thing...always have always will.

I added some pictures of the non typical easy keepin kind. All our breeding!

Does anybody have any thoughts on Cowboy Cut?
I thought he was a little weak topped.  Every time I see him he seems to have a bit of a sway in his back.  I really like Full Throttle.

feeder duck, nice shorties!
I really like full throttle and fully loaded also. I was hoping to see some calves out of them, but nothing so far!

I sense some doubt in you ol' RW!  I know they are both on the young side and both are Canadian bulls (you knew that didn't you), probably without the push and money behind them that Mulberry has had.
From what I hear, one of the breeders actually like to grow them out and put them into production before they push them. Imagine that!! (Unlike some who sell all offspring and have NONE in production in their own herd!)

Maybe this spring will be their coming out season!!!

I've seen a few bulls outta Fully Loaded in some bull sale magazines, and they've looked really good.

I see their offspring showing up in sale catalogs but I just don't see any coming to town to be shown. I torched a group of bulls a couple of weeks ago that had some in it. Yes they were decent commercial breeding type bulls but for ET calves they were as a whole very plain and common - none made me say wow, who is this one out of. RW

Depends on who it hear it from vcsf, when you hear it from the breeder, you listen.

RW, the calves you have seen might have been plain, but what type of cow were they out of? You could flush a perfect bull to a crappy cow and end of with crap, through no fault of the bull.

To each their own I suppose. I am sure you use cattle I won't like, and I use cattle you wouldn't like. That is what makes cattle sales and shows so much fun!!

The ones I saw were from 4 genetically different donor dams. I believe that there was a Logan, a Chateau, a Julienne and a New Trend, all proven donors who have had some pretty nice calves in the past. I'm not sure why anyone would flush a "crappy" cow though. RW
