We are looking to hire a full time herdsman and I need some help finding good places to advertise for the opening. Does anybody have any suggestions? It would be for a beef cow/calf operation including show cattle, seedstock, and commercial. We are located in south west Ohio. Thanks for any info!

Put an add on the classified here, never know what you might find.  Then again you might try Jim Tressel, after that bang up job he did at OSU i heard he's looking for work.  Would be a great PR man.  (lol) (lol) (lol)  ROLL TIDE

Hansen Agri-placemnts, Agricareers.com or agcareers.com would be a good place to put them since they are geared toward agriculture careers, i know because i just graduated from college and have become real familiar with visiting these sites looking for jobs!

Our local community college has a job listings website that is aimed at alumni, I don't know that every college has one, but that might be something to try.

Cut the diarhea?  I hear he know's everything.

Alternatively, call universities, especially about now as students will be graduating.

Ohlde used to use lots of interns.

I would try community colleges in surrounding states that have ag production/ livestock programs. I know that Lake Land college and Black Hawk East college in Illinois place students into these type of programs. Just give them a call and they could set you up. Jon Althaus at LLC and Dan Hoge at BHE. Many of their students come from Indiana and Ohio.

Josh I am not sure if you have checked. But ATI in Wooster somewtimes I think does externships with the beef science majors. Even if they didn't you may find by letting the school know you are interested you would find what you want. Lots of those kids come from farm operations.

Thanks for all the suggestions. OH Breeder, the guy that works for me now I got from ATI. I tried to go on their website and find contact info or some kind of program and was unable to find anything. :( I will probably give them a call this week.

Are you looking for A" cow man" to help run the operation and advise or are you looking for a "chore boy or girl" .

Turns out that word of mouth works pretty good. We have filled the position. Thanks everybody!
