new herd bull

Here are a couple of pictures of our new herdsire JSF Medicine Rock 46W, or Rocky when we talk about him around home. He was the lot 1 bull in the Durhams for Denver. Let me know what you think and which photo you like better.

He looks to have matured well since the first time I saw him in October. I like the second picture better, fewer shadows allow for a greater amount muscle definition  to show through.

looks great! i would use the first picture just because his neck looks cleaner and his front feet are set more natural, in that second he looks awkward on his front end. jmo

Stumpy... he looks like he has continued to develop very well since Denver. I personally like the second picture as I think he looks a little more soggy made in it , and more well balanced.... but it is a close call. I just got another new herd sire home today and I will have to get some pics of him soon.

Ha Ha Ha guys (even though it is kinda the truth) The bull looks great Stumpy, I agree that he has really come into himself since Denver and I think that you got that Jazz son that you wanted a while back.  The only thing that I would change about the second pict is it looks like to me that his ears arn't all the way forward and it kinda draws the eyes up in that area but other than that it is a great pict.  Now if I could only get my bull to pose for me like that we would be in shape.

Good looking-how big is he? I dont remember his dams side-is she a medicine man? If so-he looks alot like Byland Dazzler-one of the best unsung performance bulls ever born-then umpteen years later-SIRE of national champions O0

Mark I am interested in your thoughts on Dazzler. Have seen in him in a few pedigrees but don't know a lot more. He was before my tiime in the business. thanks : Byland Dazzler was sold with his Byland Big Bud dam at the 1991 Louisville sale-I was bidding on his dam and Tribbet got her-He was sold to Brockmueller in South Dakota-Was and remins one of the best Shorthorn calves Ive ever seen He was sired by Deertrail Awesome-Who was gigantic-but was a stout very moderate (for the times),thick,big footed bull. bull. Not sure who has the semen-but Dave Mcfarland would know. His daughters were outstanding-and there was a son called Daybreak Express who was owned by Werning ,is a thick calving ease deal-(o BW I believe) and has sired some great show hiefers,he is available at genetic horizens -or c-visions-one or other. O0
