I think that Heatwave is really special and should make someone a really nice Chi heifer this year.  She really has a lot of look and body.

Double A brings nice cattle every year.  We should have some more pictures of their cattle by sale day.  Hopefully, some of the other consignors will send pictures to me as well.

Good looking calves Oakbar. I've been to this sale the last two years and the calves sold on this sale won't disappoint you.  I really don't need any more heifers but I'll be there on Sunday and you never know what might happen with calves that nice.

For anybody planning to attend the sale --The Diamond Jo Casino and Country Inn and Suites is located out on Interstate 35-- just 4 miles from us and 6 miles from the sale.  Pretty handy if you'd like to come the night before and not travel both ways on Sunday.  There is a great Steakhouse at the Casino and an even better one in Northwood that has the best meals and meanest cook west of the Mississippi!  Its called Signature's and Mark or Rhonda Taylor do a great job of putting out great meals and great service.  You may want to call ahead for a reservation, though!  I bet you can't eat one of their King cut primerib dinners!!  Tell them I recommended the place to you and, after they stop groaning and giving you their sympathy for knowing me, they'll make you glad you stopped.  Don't believe a word they say about me!!!  By the way, they are also open for breakfast on Sunday mornings--you might even see me there if Rhonda let's me in!!

Save a little of your appetite for Sunday noon at the sale, though, the Beef Team kids are running the concession stand to earn money for their trip to Denver in January.
They'll also be helping us line up the sale!!

If you come down early give me a call and I'll show you around Oakbar--or like a former owner called it, Oleo Acres--Its A Cheaper Spread!!  I can also point you in the right direction to visit any of the consignors in case you want to see their cows, etc. the day before the sale.

Hope to see you all at the sale!!  We'll have a great time!!

I usually go to this sale.  My sons have purchased calves in this sale and had good luck.  The Grand and Reserve heifer in my county fair came from this auction last year.  Along with 10-12 other calves hauled to my county from this sale.

I have found this sale to be the best price/quality sale from a buyer point of view the last few years.  I do regret that I am not going to be able to be there...  I have a kids event.

(shameless plug  coming next)
So Oakbar, why isn't this sale on www.edjecast.com???

Mark,

Now you know that our sale is a really low budget operation---that's why many people find it "to be the best price/quality sale from a buyer point of view the last few years"!!!  A very knowledgeable guy I know said that just recently!!

We try to keep the overhead as low as possible, the cattlemen basically just break even(they have a couple of guys that for some unknown reason don't mind donating hours of their time), and we try to focus on providing good calves to junior buyers at reasonable prices.    Lately we have even had the Youth Beef Team help us set up and run the sale so they get some experience from the other side of the ring.  In fact, probably 30-35% of the calves being sold were raised by members of our Beef Team or young folks who have graduated from it in the last couple of years.

Sorry to hear you cant make it this year!!  Don't let that stop you from buying, though!  I know a certain Iowegian that would be happy to bid for you!!
