For anybody planning to attend the sale --The Diamond Jo Casino and Country Inn and Suites is located out on Interstate 35-- just 4 miles from us and 6 miles from the sale. Pretty handy if you'd like to come the night before and not travel both ways on Sunday. There is a great Steakhouse at the Casino and an even better one in Northwood that has the best meals and meanest cook west of the Mississippi! Its called Signature's and Mark or Rhonda Taylor do a great job of putting out great meals and great service. You may want to call ahead for a reservation, though! I bet you can't eat one of their King cut primerib dinners!! Tell them I recommended the place to you and, after they stop groaning and giving you their sympathy for knowing me, they'll make you glad you stopped. Don't believe a word they say about me!!! By the way, they are also open for breakfast on Sunday mornings--you might even see me there if Rhonda let's me in!!
Save a little of your appetite for Sunday noon at the sale, though, the Beef Team kids are running the concession stand to earn money for their trip to Denver in January.
They'll also be helping us line up the sale!!
If you come down early give me a call and I'll show you around Oakbar--or like a former owner called it, Oleo Acres--Its A Cheaper Spread!! I can also point you in the right direction to visit any of the consignors in case you want to see their cows, etc. the day before the sale.
Hope to see you all at the sale!! We'll have a great time!!
