Newbie: Wondering why I don't see any crosses with Limis?

I really appreciate all the feedback concerning the Limousin breed it has confirmed that they are the way we want to go. Concerning breding for steers in our part of the country most of the shows we would be interested in the steers have to be shaved anyway so I am not that concerned with hair. That being said what bulls cross well on limi heifers if hair is not a consideration and you are trying to breed steers, I know that a lot of this would depend on the cows conformation I am just really interested in the nicks that seem to be working with the limis. Again thatnks for all the info it is nice to have a resource to turn to and get sound advice.

The Limousin breed has ignored some problems in the past, but I believe today's limi cattle bring a lot to the table. As far as the show ring, limis for the most part have the bone, muscle, and structure needed. They do get a little hard for the show ring, but that's also what makes them valueable in the feedlot eliminating yg 3's. There are some limis out there now that are soft enough for the show ring.

where Limi's got my respect, was, when they treated bad dispositions as a genetic defect, and, started disposition-scoring cattle. I was wondering something. Did you have personal experience with Limousin cattle in your younger years?

I have been raised around limis my whole life, and my family has been raising limis for almost 30 years. Developing the docility epd was definitely a big step forward for the breed. As far as I am concerned, docility is a genetic defect. If they are crazy, there calves will be 80% of the time, or at least that's our experience.

Many haven't seen a good limi. I grew up with them. I have seen the good, the bad, the ugly.  They went through the stage of trying to kill off the breed, and now, they are building it back up. My problem is, they seem to have lost what limi's were known for, while making them into "the standard cookie cutter clubbie" look.  But, a good limi is hard to beat. A really good limi is impossible to beat!!

I have to agree with this comment, in this regard Limi's, Maine's, Simmi's, Chi's and several other breeds have tried so hard to compete with crosses and the black hided issue that they have all lost the breed differences that made them distinct and different as an individual breed.
