Millvale Jubilation was one of the two bulls I drove all night to look at years ago.  Bob Miller made me climb up into the hay mow so I could get a look at the great top one of those bulls had.  I could tell he had a good top from ground level, but Bob was insistent, so up I went.  The Lucinda family did a good job for Millvale.  I obtained a Lucinda female sired by Major Leroy that I'm anxiously awaiting a calf from.  The Lilydale dual purpose cattle were used by several beef Shorthorn breeders.  I think Ransom G-9 2975 is out of a Lilydale cow.  Millvale was part of the Bar 4 group.  Bob raised Millvale Prairie Pearl (by Lancer) that was later champion female at the National Junior Heifer Show (and several others) for the Greeleys of Iowa.  You will find descendants of her in many herds across the country.  Many of us are still kicking ourselves for not bidding on Prairie Pearl at the Bar 4 sale.  She was probably one of the greatest buys of all time.  I have found numerous photos and ads you will be interested in.  Included are photos of a couple of the Rorvig cows owned by Floyd Frederickson (Nelco) and Nelco McLeod.  When my daughter has time to help, I'll post them for you.

Maybe, if you have a picture of McLeod, just take a cell phone picture of the photo and we can see that. At least a better image than the mists of time provide.

Tangentially, do you have a photo of Surge?

Mcleod was 60'' tall which would have him just touching a 7 frame score.Too small for the times which was fine with me.

This is what I think of as cow power. When you can recognize a resemblance even if you don't know they are related.
I was doing an image search for Millvale, trying to make sense of Okotoks pedigree.
In the middle of a million pictures is this red and white cow that calls the Mona Lisa cow to mind.
So, I hit the image for information on who she is.
Diamond Unica Maid, daughter of the roan he posted out of 27c.

Still didn't learn much about Millvue except that they had this nice (I think) bull calf for sale on rural ads last year.

We sold Diamond Unica Maid 9U as a feature lot in the All Star Classic Sale a few years ago to Greg and Cathy Tough (Hargrave Shorthorns) in a partnership with Frank Vandenhoek, Dollar Creek Shorthorns in Manitoba. We retained the right to one flush at the buyer's convenience. I don't think it was very convenient but they kindly hauled her to a collection facility 3 and half hours from their place. Unfortunately we only got two embryos but they are on the way to Alberta and hopefully will be implanted next month. They are by Balmoral Oaks Eagle and I think that should be exciting.

Isn't it ironic about Shorthorns losing ground to Herefords in the western USA because of the harsh winter conditions in the 1880's, when the stronghold of Shorthorns today is Canada, just that much farther North, colder and longer until Spring. Must be those wind fences... But I will concede that Herefords are thick hided and not lazy about getting out there and looking for food.
I liked that photo of Eionmor Lily in the snow...she did not look unhappy.
