Northern Shorthorns purchased this Diamond Regal Legend 4R son from us a couple years ago. Thunderdownunder has  pictured him as a rising 3 year old after 2 breeding seasons.  Diamond Winalot 37W is also the sire of two of my naughty purchases of 2011 (photos under daddy) and one in the oven.

I enjoy grape Kool-Aid myself its better then the vinegar water you serve inquiring minds As it is purely foolish to believe everything one reads on the internet I contacted some people and was informed that at this time there are no conclusive results.  That doesn't mean I need to glue feathers to my bottom and put my head in the sand but it does mean I am intelligent enough to question what I read and confirm things without foolishly following an unknown person. TGCC was perhaps your biggest defender and has always been someone who speaks what he thinks.  Is it wrong that there are more opinions than your own?

Want to make sure you didn't miss the information about the potential genetic distal hind limb abnormality posted on the ASA web site - they are calling it "digital subluxation" - you can also see the radiographic appearance of this abnormality on aj's x-rays under the thread "Potential genetic defect in Shorthorn cattle" - they are on page 14

click on Reporting abnormal calves and you will down load a pdf describing the issue we have been talking about and pictures

BTW I think they meant subluxation not sublazation

Like I said (to you and others) I stand by my information

The Northern herd is not a big herd but they have some very good females. They also have some very good purebred herefords. They have a couple of paternal sisters to Northern Legend 3N and several females from the Butterfly family. Last year their calves were by the 37W bull as well as some by our JT Ulysses 80U bull.
Below are a couple of photos taken by Thunderdownunder last Saturday.
The first is a paternal sister to Northern Legend 3N and the second is a Butterfly by Alta Cedar Sherman7S

Thanks aj I have 16 give or take  bovine pregnancies I am looking forward too of course the Diamond Taffy Candy 14T by Diamond Winalot 37W is definitely one of my top picks.  We won't get into the horse pregnancies but those have me very cheerful as well.

Jody its facebook official ;) perhaps you need to be friends with her before you can see them ;)

Northern Shorthorns have used some really interesting bulls Alta Cedar Sherman, JT Ulysses, Matlock Red Sniper, River Ridge Elite, Circle M Mark's Legend Diamond Prophecy 21P, Diamond Captain Mark 27C, Diamond Winalot 37W they have a herd that does not have any of the popular American genetics.  I have always been impressed with their program and if anyone ever is in the area I would highly recommend stopping in to see them

Whos Northern Candys Momma-ME LIKE O0

Hey Mark Northern Candy is out of a cow I bred (and luckily managed to repurchase). Diamond Taffy Candy 14T I have attached a picture of her and baby Candy.  The calf behind her is one of Northern's Hereford calves who obviously prefers Shorthorn influence ;).

Where pray tell can we purchase fine cattle like Diamond Winalot 37w?
You obviously could go to us (Diamond Shorthorns) we currently have a red polled nephew to the 37W bull  37W's sire Diamond Regal Legend 4R has semen at cattle visions or you could always purchase a bull prospect from Kohlstaedt Farms. Plenty of options  <beer>

Why do you guys continually sell cattle.....then buy them back then sell them again? It seems more like trading cattle then having a disciplined stacking of pedigrees breeding program?

aj perhaps it is because we only sell breeding stock that we would love to keep.  This ensures the customer is more likely to be happy.  I don't question your breeding decisions so why waste energy judging what I do with my program?

I can side with that...  I do the same thing all the time, sell a buck lamb.. couple years later, wish I had them back, cuz boy their young mama sure turned into a great one by then...  Matter of fact, I bred 85% of my ewes this fall to rams that I had sold in their entirety as lambs, and went back to purchase to use again.

Another option, is selling stock who no longer wishes to have them, either for a lack of working, or a desire to switch goals, or get out completely.. I do that too.

The last option that's easily thinkable-- is buying them back when that particular person is done with them.  I know several top notch people who will only use an outcross for a year or two, instead of the lifespan.  I also know of people who'll buy young females, get some daughters out of them, and then move the originals as younger type brood animals...  just simpily to keep numbers down, genetics fresh, or whatever the reason.

Actually it was more of mentioning a pretty awesome herd which I felt was worth knowing about.  Obviously we are pleased with how the bull is producing  as part of an breeding program is creating a product that works for our customers.  37W appears to be working for Northern Shorthorns. Interestingly enough I also mentioned they have genetics from using bulls from Alta Cedar, Circle M, Popular Park (JT), Horseshoe Creek etc.  aj honey for all you criticising I am dying to hear about one of your happy customers pictures would be nice as well  ;)
