Again, nobody said anything bad about the Core's.  It wasn't their fault they won. They are a top notch family and do a great job.  It doesn't make it right that they won though.

I didn't see them in person, but there is no doubt from this picture that she is the smallest footed and chested in that lineup, probably loin as well. Almost looks like a heifer compared to steers. ;) The Denver Post video at the Brown Palace kind of made me think the same thing, but I am also smart enough to know that alot more goes into on-foot market evaluation than I am getting from one picture and video, so maybe we should just congratulate all involved and try again next year? That is the nature of this business

I think he made an EXCELLENT choice for both the grand and reserve this year! Both looked amazing, there were so many nice steers there this year!!

The quality of steers this year was outstanding. Don't know when I've seen it so deep. The reserve market at Denver was very questionable compared to Kroupas or Gretzky's, in fact there was 10 to 12 steers that could have easily been in there for reserve.I really think this was done to promote the mrkt. heifer show at Denver. But congrats to Core's!!

From what I understand....The Heifer was purchased in Swanson's pasture sale for $900, sold to Bailey's friend, who showed her at the Iowa State Fair.  She showed fairly well, so Core's bought her for $4000 and entered  her into Denver, and the rest is history.  Not a bad return for $4000 and 5 months of holding her.  Congratulations to both families! <party>

I would have to agree that there is not very many times you can make 30 sum odd thousand on a 4k purchase!
