Could someone with more meats experience than me please rank these and explain.  I am pretty sure I know how I would place them but would like some help.

I don't know enough about meat judging to begin to rank them, but results look pretty comparable to what we see on cattle at our majors.  I think the judges do a pretty good job of picking good looking cattle that grade well on quality and yield.  Feedlots would love to have pens full of animals with this kind of end product.

We always have to judge slaughter cattle(alive) at our livestock judging contests so I have a pretty good idea about how the numbers correlate with the quality of the animal. That's just my guess though.

The prime goes top....the select with a high yield grade EASILY goes bottom.  Granted the past two months the choice/select spread has only been a couple of dollars.  Come grilling season it will wdien out.

Bet they been holding the Maine steer for a couple of months.

That is almost unreal that the number 9 steer can have that big of a rib eye and still grade prime.  Any body else ever notice that the bigger the rib eye, the smaller the odds of being choice --  much less prime?  Notice the 3 and the 8 are 15 inch or bigger and select.

Anybody know the breeding of the number 9 steer?

Thanks and have a good one

The shorthorn was not a heatwave.  He was out of a  heatseeker son.

I was pretty sure James said he was a heatwave but I could be wrong. The simmi being Logan Davis I would imagine was a heatwave also, but I have no clue past speculation.
